Rally Chat BunkFest Festival Wallingford Oxon 1-3 September 2017 Funster Meet

For anyone who wants to enjoy BunkFest but can't join our Meet because of the no dogs rule there is a Caravan Club CL a mile away which has 5 pitches available at the moment :) PM us if you want more details.
As that sorted it for you Jim

Hoping to hear back about what acts will be at BunkFest soon :) So far we have interest in 7 out of the 20 available pitches so please add your name & your friends if you might want to come along.

No news on acts yet but BunkFest are currently in negotiations with many performers for the main stage and fringe venues around the town. Worth keeping an eye on their Facebook page or Like it for updates https://www.facebook.com/wallingfordbunkfest/
Sure it will be good if reviews from previous years are anything to go by :)

Looks like there should be not only the main stage acts but also lots in other venues around Wallingford so plenty of music & dancing. Good beer :drinks:too with a huge choice of real ales & lots of local food stalls :inlove:. A Street Fair on Saturday & Sunday. Maybe the Singing Train will be running again - the "Bunk" from which this festival which has been running since 2002 takes its name. There might even be the option of a musical boat trip...

@Wombles. It's an old stomping ground of mine from my young RAF Benson days, and it sounds really good, however, rather than dash to Twin Lakes after the Bunkest, we've decided to have a leisurely meander through France instead.
Sorry :( but we hope that the meet is a great success for you and those attending. (y)

Cheers,

Jock & Rita. :)

Why no dogs allowed
I did double check with the organisers but the Sports Park Meet (offical BunkFest camping) is definitely no dogs because the camping is on the football & rugby pitches. The campsites that allow dogs that are within walking distance are fully booked or have not replied to my messages but there is a local Caravan Club CL (Newnham Manor, Crowmarsh Gifford) where dogs are welcome & that had all 5 pitches available last week if you are members?
Alternatively dogs are allowed at one of our other meets at Sunshine Festival http://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum...liday-weekend-fun-meet-discount-offer.144891/ - we should have a good crowd of Funsters there :)

Hopefully we will have news shortly of how to book direct with BunkFest :) If we can fill 20 pitches we get the whole prime area to ourselves (8 allocated so 12 to go) so please post on here if you are interested - at £30 per person for camping (with toilets & showers provided) Thursday - Monday with a free shuttle bus (or short walk) to the festival & street fairs it's got to be a good deal!

Bump - wouldn't like anyone to miss out :)

I would be interested as easy one from Southampton. Just looked at site, says no more on line booking, possible pay at gate, if room.

Glad you want to join us (y) Don't worry that is from last year as website presumably not updated & booking not open yet for this year - we should be the first to know when it is! Will add you to the list & message once booking opens :)

Bump :)

To keep this thread bumped up (so as many Funsters have the chance to book as possible) but for it hopefully to still be interesting & informative  there will be posts to follow related to all aspects of BunkFest.

Something different to try - Silent Disco?! :dance2:

"After the success of last year we’re holdng another Silent Disco at BunkFest. This will be run by Flash FM and located on the Kinecroft Dance Stage on Friday and Saturday nights from 8pm to 11pm.

For those who don’t know what a Silent Disco is, it’s where people dance to music listened to on wireless headphones. Those without the headphones hear no music, giving the effect of a group of people dancing to nothing!

Music sent to individual headphones can also be different, so one person might be dancing to reggae while another dances to 80’s disco!

There will be a small charge for the Silent Disco and we do need to take a deposit to cover any potential damage or loss of the headphones. Once you return your headphones in full working order we’ll refund the deposit to you.

So dust off your dancing shoes and get ready to throw some shapes!"

Or how about a trip on the Singing Train? http://www.bunkfest.co.uk/singing-train-sp-207.htm

"One of the very few places in the country where you can play 2 tunes a quarter of a mile apart!

Come and take a ride on The Bunk, with musical accompaniment! Singers and musicians provide the entertainment on The Singing Train, it's a session where all are welcome to bring their instruments and voices, come and join in or just sit back and enjoy the music!

Tickets for train rides should be purchased directly from the Cholsey & Wallingford Railway at the Station Office."

Or a Musical Boat Trip http://www.bunkfest.co.uk/musical-boat-trips-sp-208.htm:

"From the Riverside Park and pool complex on the Crowmarsh side of the river on Salters lovely cruiser Mary Stuart, with live music.

Trips last for 40 minutes and will depart on the hour between 11:00 and 17:00 on Saturday and Sunday.

Prices are £7.00 for adults and £4.00 for children, purchased directly from Salter's Steamers at the Riverside Park."

Some great homes next to the river:

There will be a Street Fair & Market on Saturday & Sunday http://www.bunkfest.co.uk/saturday-sunday-street-fair-sp-500.htm:

"The BunkFest Community Street Fair gives local community groups and businesses a chance to tell towns people and visitors alike about all the wonderful things going on in Wallingford. Many clubs and organisations will have stalls and displays in the town centre - do support them generously.

This year the Street Fair & Market will be held on Saturday and Sunday. Most of the stalls are run by local business and people, producing, rearing and selling their products with pride. So come along and enjoy the weekend.

Dance teams from across the country will take over the streets as well as roving Street Entertainers."
