*BREAKING NEWS* France to move off amber plus - other countries to green

Little confused if we transit through France and go to Germany a green country do we still need to do all the tests?
You have to apply to the conditions of the “naughtiest“ country you have traveled through.

so if in green, go through amber, and a quick pop through red. Red rules are applied to you.

In amber, pass through green. Amber rules apply to you.

It's not difficult to fill plf in on line or book a day 2 test. Many chemists do the antigen test and the BONUS is no quarantine,,BUSBY.
Or take tests with you. Just do it at your own time and send a pic in, they then send you a certificate via email.

lots of experts on here, more than on Facebook, so can anyone answer this question for me please?

I have ordered my 2 day 2 tests for Mrs N and myself. I have the order numbers to go on the passenger locator form. It asked my arrival day to the UK. I put it as the 17th August, however, what if I want to stop our longer? does it matter?.

tia.

Where did you get them from Andy looking at options just now for our trip. 👍

My concern is what happens if you have a positive test, in France, two days before travel back to the UK? Where do you self isolate in a motorhome in France? How do you get shopping while isolating etc? If I understand this right you have to test before leaving France for UK and if positive you have to isolate in France for 10 days.

We got our from
c19testing.co.uk.
They post it to you and when you do the test you just shove cotton bud up nose and do test, then send them a photo with test result plastic thing, along side your passport. A couple of hours later results emailed to you that you copy across to any required paperwork. V easy.

Our plan is to take antigen tests with us and test ourselves in the week or so before leaving France to make sure everything is ok.

Cheers Andy saw another that you did a video call with them but this seems easier..

If I am understanding this, are you suggesting taking the NHS antigen tests before taking the official test, and if positive then delaying your return to UK until they are negative, therefore avoiding isolation and staying in France even though testing positive?

If I test positive with the NHS test I saves me wasting my money on suddenly finding our I'm positive using the bought test. If I test positive I can't travel back anyway so would have to stay and isolate there before returning home. No time constraints for return anyway..

I guess the only good thing is if its green its unlikely to go red while away.
But I thought they were saying last week that whatever colour it was when yo left if it changed it would not apply to you for return¿
however, what if I want to stop our longer? does it matter?.
that's why you book them when coming back.

In the motorhome same as I would be doing for quarantine in the uK.

Thanks for responding. I am interested to know where do you isolate in France if your NHS antigen test is positive? Would we have to report a positive test to the French authorities?

I am not confident a French campsite will be happy to have us stay if we are Covid Positive. Seems to me the only way would be to keep quiet about the positive test and keep all interactions to a minimum.

Is there not 'within 10 days' in there somewhere?

Yes,,you need to fill in a new PLF.I had to do it because we came back a day late. They really checked my plf at the ferry.

Yes, if going from amber to green, and then you stay in green for 10 days before travelling then green applies. But question was about transiting, which I don’t personally class as transiting as 10 days is a long time.

This is exactly what we're planning on doing too.

This is where it pays off to do a bit of advance planning - based on our expected approximate location I've found a Camping Car Park aire with EHU etc. for less than €10 per night that we'll use if we need to isolate. Like most (all?) CCPs its unmanned (so no interaction needed) and there's a supermarket & boulangerie within cycling distance (assuming we're not both positive). Plus we'll keep a store of tinned food to last us if needed....it might not be gourmet living but we'll manage it. We'll test daily until both negative and then do our tests to come home.

As I said in the earlier post I would have to be doing quarantine in the uK in the van if it was required so what is the difference in France? Plenty of aires, Plenty of aire de repos. I'd just wait it out at Bergues aire.

Yes exactly agree with the keeping it to yourself and keeping a low profile but if you are willing to go that is the risk you take I suppose.
That is where its all a bit of a nonsense. As Landy Andy was saying you can get a test take it with you, send the photo of the test result and they send you the certificate to travel. Now how do they really know you have taken the test if I've understood it correctly. It's all down to the individual whether they are willing to risk travel being positive.
Personally I would find a quiet spot stock up and wait it out as long as symptoms were mild...

So I thought I'd have a look at ferries & , as expected all the 'flexis' on dfds.com have disappeared. just £123 + dog
So I pop on the French site & lo & behold we have flexis if wanted or 123€ + dog for the same booking?

The test is a joke to be honest. i can’t see how they know anything from the photo but they have taken the money, and I believe that is what this s about.

Thanks for the report - we'd considered doing that too, just to make things easier coz I don't really want to waste precious holiday time faffing around finding and going to a test site. Glad to hear it all worked ok - just ordered our tests (y)

I hope you are going out on Saturday, not returning on Saturday....
"The changes from 04:00 BST on 8 August"

We're on the way out on the 15th August, via Dover, and have no planned exact return date ( sometime in October) so will see what we need then and , depending on that, it may be direct from Spain or a meander through France.

Now that France is accessible, what is the latest on overnights at Cite Europe. ?

There's no recent reviews on Camper Contact but I wouldn't risk it.
We stopped for diesel and gas at Carrefour last year and noticed a lot of migrants hanging around - way more than in previous years. And despite being extra vigilant we managed to pick up a hitchhiker.... we think he must have slipped in the passenger door between hubby exiting via the hab door and locking the MH behind him (I was already outside) Fortunately for us we'd just arrived and were heading south, it didn't work out quite so well for him though...he had a bit of a long walk back to Calais!
