Black Tank Emptying Map

I've no idea what you ve been looking for but at least 50% of French aires have a drive over grid, probably close on 100% of Stelplatze and many of the Sosta's. Sometimes you do need to have a look which way the pipes are running but generally they both go to the same place. The best practice is to use bio degradable treatments and clean up after yourself, I favour using the pipe as its cleaner and then you can use the grey element to give the gully a good swoosh afterwards.
Thanks for the info. I was only in France week and didn’t use an aire. Italy same process. Slovenia couldn’t get the MH into the bay too large and grey dump only. Austria and Germany etc to come and thanks for the info. However as I say decanting into a cassette is really no Hastle at all

I believe the near future for water waste is for black and and grey to be treated separately.

Behind this is the wish to take pressure off the current infrastructure and to avoid processing that which does not need processing.

It is being taken so seriously I know of a housing development being held up because the old public infrastructure has not yet been upgraded to the twin system - but it is on its way.
This would be such a massive task, requiring doubling up of all sewer systems that I doubt it is practical, and you would still need to treat the grey to get food particles and soap residue out of it.

Could you be confusing this with rainwater harvesting? This is where new properties have to bury a tank with filter and pumps and pipe their washing machines and outside taps etc with it.

This is another answer

Although I think I remember another poster saying they had one or similar and had never used it.

I've had two, the first one I often used when we were fulltiming, it saved moving the RV, after we stopped ft in 2013 it rusted up, the new one I bought a couple of years ago has never been used.

So, in order to accelerate the map I thought I would try emailing likely sites in Scotland (I found a useful link) that might have drive over facilities. I have received a very positive response to the first few and as a result some more pins have been added to the map. The sites see the benefit that it may drive more visitors to their site, cuts down on possible polluter abusers and it costs them nothing to be on the map so winner all round.

Slow process but as it is eliciting success I will continue. Updated map is here THE MAP

So, interesting discussion when I visited Slingsby C and CC site to empty grey and black tanks - I have been there before several times as it is reasonably close to home...

New wardens - question: is it just grey? No, says I, black and grey. You can't put black down our grey manhole says they.

Discussion follows - they are on mains sewage, I explain it all ends up in same place - warden makes a phone call, not sure who to. Very friendly but we walk over to their emptying point. Turns out they have some interesting plumbing going on. They have a cassette emptying point raised up as usual with a grey drain below it is of their black manhole, a couple of metres away, - he explains that he regularly has to hose out his grey drain as it gets full of black waste. He does not want me to empty my black even though I explain it is macerated just liquid. Clearly his problem is with the cassette emptying but he thinks the manhole will back up to the grey drain.

We part on friendly terms but first time I have been turned down. Used a bucket and emptied at home - means several trips but I am not on mains drains and have no close manhole cover I can drive to.

Will update the note on the map for this site next time I do an update

Re emptying with a bucket. I have found the best solution to emptying my black tank is to carry a standard cassette with me. Perfectly designed for pouring down a chemical waste point almost as as if it was designed for it. Each empty gives me another couple or three days until I can find a place to pull the gate valve so to speak. It’s taken out the worry of what if…

Exact same conversation I had with a site owner near Pickering, couldn’t get his head around macerated vs cassette and kept talking about wet wipes making a mess on the fine grid, with his permission I “educated him”😏

This is really useful thank you, especially in uk. Can I add 1? Highland Campers on A96 just east of Inverness allow you to dispose of black waste for a fée.

I do carry a waste hig specifically designed for the job but easier to use the bucket when at home

Texel Holland Boerencamping de Eendracht 80. Superb small farm camping. Black with no chemicals. Texel should be on peoples bucket lists

Thanks - added to the map :)

Another one for you - Glenbuchty Stopover Motorhome Aire just west of Fraserburgh - £5 to empty black waste. No stopover required.

Are these ground level dump points? Or above ground.

Added to the map - I have contacted them to check it is a ground level drain.
Ah ok apologies didn’t realise this was specific to ground level. Not sure Highland Campervans is ground level or not ☺️.

Also, Glenbuchty removed as they have responded not a ground level facility

Just a reminder that the map is to help those with black tanks that ideally need a ground level emptying point/drain

Thanks all

Tried the search facility on the map ( from the first page) & Stratford Racecourse does not return anything.
So:
Stratford Racecourse
Ground level dump
Would guess that you have to stay to use it but a phone call to the warden (Sherrie) would confirm that.
Very easy access

Never had a problem tipping grey or black in Europe.
