You have exactly the same symptoms as me Hazel even down to it being the left leg so we’d not be much use in a three legged raceMy problem is I can walk, but not far because of what people don't see, the pain, the heavy feeling left leg or the overwhelming fatigue ect...………...

And there was a good black market in badges don't know if its still the case. On a positive note I think if people ask politely it would be good to make people parking in those bays without disabilities feel it was harder to get away with.
Trouble is they are the sort to flick you a V sign and tell you to eff off!
I would hazard a guess they are not the type of people who give a s....t.
I see loads it reallly winds me up. My mother in law has a badge she offered it to me to fetch something for her to me thats totally wrong the spaces should be only if the person with the badge is going to the shop

There are twats everywhere, you just happened to meet a couple. They are of no significance.On my way back from Glasgow yesterday my mate asked me if we could swing past ASDA for some shopping, it'd save him from getting home only to turn around & go back into town.
So far so good, I parked well away from the doors as usual, our car is a Mercedes R-Class & a tad on the large side.
I've always avoided parking near the doors as I detest getting parking dings by careless shoppers.
My mate popped into the store but, then I decided that I needed the loo (I'm a man of a certain age lol) so being disabled & totally crippled by arthritis I had to pop into a disabled bay near to the door, my blue badge was displayed.
So hirpling back to the car I got to within about 10 feet & there was a couple looking round my jalopy, then they went round to the front, appeared to look at the Mercedes badge & private plate followed by a declaration that "this is shocking & disgusting".
So by now I was opening the car & I asked them what the problem was?
I wondered if they hadn't seen the blue badge?
They then shocked me by declaring that "these disabled bays were not for large Mercedes cars with private plates!
I didn't even reply, I was so stunned by their comments.
This isn't the first time Hazel or I have had scowls of derision at our vehicles when parking in disabled bays, our Range Rover & Discovery's always provoked the worst responses.
Our daughter lived less than half a mile away & had a livery yard with quite a lot of the land on slippery hills, we were often called into parental duties whereby Fliss needed to get up onto the hills to repair fences etc, so we always felt perfectly justified for running such a car. Towing duties have always been a necessity & our current car is no exception, so its a 4x4 but not of the off road type.
I've never had cause to park our motorhome in a disabled bay but, I shudder to think how these tree huggers would react?
We alwys take TinaL's blue badge away with us in the Moho, havent needed to use it yet, but If I did NEED to use it should I?Could I?
The van is only 7/4 mtrs longIt always fit into two bays
I dont mind buying two parking tickets to enable this if also needed.

My assumption of these people was based on the obvious hatred of our car & in particular the private number plate. So their hatred might have been based on an inferiority complex instead of socialist leanings, or perhaps both?
In life I've found that its usually socialists who have a deep hatred of large cars & a particular hatred of 4x4s. Our car ticks both boxes.

Well now and then when I have a good day, you know the kind where you feel that you can do things that normally elude you, on those occasions I have gone round the supermarket picking and choosing which rows I needed.
I am also an overweight woman who on 'those days' walk around the supermarket, though I do lean more and more on the trolley as I go and really start to struggle...I am then completely floored for 2 or 3 days and have the pain to go with it.…..please don't make assumptions about what your eyes show you, you can't see under the skin, feel the pain or the struggle.
I have to be honest and say that I feel offended by your words, as others have said on this post already, not all disabilities can be seen.
I was recently told by someone who lives just round the corner from us that I was a lazy fat bitch/cow and that he knew there was nothing wrong with me.....throw in a ton of swear words and other nasty comments......that got him arrested and charged.....the police treated it as a hate crime.

There have been a couple of occasions when I have needed a short time to recover before I drive away, but that is different again.

Hazel, sorry if I offended you personally, that of course was never my intention. I know you have MS, and you try and keep as active as possible, the dogs will keep you going also. Hope fully you will let me have a cuddle one day soon to let me make up
I think having had TinaL as my partner for so long,with Parkinsons for the last 7 years being able to guage her so called ON & Off periods during her 4 hour medication duaration I can tell when someone is really struggling to walk any distance. TinaL also suffers immensely when she overdoes things, but I cant stop her as she is and always will be very independent to the point of being stubborn, and she knows it.
TinaL also prefers to push the shopping trolley and use it as a walking aid, but if its a large supermrket, then by the time we get to the checkout, her inner Duracell battery is now flat, and she has to shuffle with immense lower back pain and be helped into the car.
The Ladies I refered to earlier basically sprint into and arround the supermarket, blocking the isles, loading the trolley with mostly the wrong stuff for themselves, they certainly dont seem to run out of steam as they munch through a choccie bar of blueberry muffin all the way back to their car.
Unlike TinaL who is sometimes in floods of tears and appologising for "being Useless"as she is so stiff.

That’s the wording on the disabled parking spaces here but there are not very well used here . V easy to find an empty one
You do qualify for a blue badge if you have terminal cancer in my area. You fast track the normal application process and just need a form signing by your Gp.
Also in my area any patient attending hospital for cancer care has their parking ticket validated.

Hi @TinaL, I like your analogy about using shopping trolley as a walking aid, that’s me to a T, like you and others that have posted I have an occasional good day where I go stupid and think I can do all the things I used to, then suffer and am out of the game for days on end, I never learn and I do it all again next time I have a “good” day. The shopping trolley is one on my forms of exercise, I refuse a madgemobile and won’t use a walker, my stick is a must though, apart from supporting me, it is a flag to let other impatient pedestrians know I can’t get out of their way (doesn’t always work though)

There was a works van parked in our disabled space - plenty of spaces close by where the van could have parked. The van was also blocking the dropped kerb. I asked if the van could be moved and got the flip so I phoned their head office. The van was moved quick smart - and they had very long faces as they watched my daughter help me into the chair and then into the police station. Daughter also pointed out the dash cam as I was worried about vandalism to the car.
I think a lot of us are like that.

Our local supermarkets are very good and will issue a temporary permit if you ask at customer services.

The rules have changed and tightened up a lot in the last few years. Today you need to have a medical examination and assessment before a badge is issued. It is far from easy to obtain the badge.
The biggest issue I observe is that badges are used outside the scope for which they are issued - used by family members as illustrated above for example. If the badge holder has a driver then the badge holder is supposed to be taken to a place of safety (I would say unloaded but that is not a nice way to put it) whilst the driver parks the car in a "normal" space.
