Benidorm for a first timer

Ditto here Geraldine :) however, this time I doubt we'll be staying as long as we normally do.

We'll see you and Cliff at Villasol on 10th January. (y)

Re Sticky Vicky's replacement, I thought it was her daughter who took over, and now her granddaughter doing the rounds. ;)

I used to order the ACSI book before we left the UK, but now we use Aires on the way down to Spain, and buy the book at either Arena Blanca reception, or from the Camping Shop opposite Raco. Last time at Villasol, I wasn't even asked for my card, but still got the ACSI rate. :whatthe:

Cheers,

Jock. :)
Now you tell me 🤣£££€€€🤣

Well, we arrived here yesterday.

I'm not exactly a first timer, but it's 30 years since I was last in Benidorm. (The first time was as a 14 year old school kid on an exchange visit with a Spanish family in the early 80's. The second time was a quick visit on a motorcycle tour round Spain in my mid 20's when I again received hospitality from the same Spanish family).

So .............. It's like nowhere else really. It's changed quite a bit since I was last here - a lot more high rise buildings, but some of the architecture is really quite interesting. Some areas are a little tawdry, but you can't help but be impressed by the overall vibe of the place - people just having a good time. Spanish, Brits, North Europeans, young, old, abled, disabled, all flavours of sexual orientation. It's seems tolerant and inclusive.

We walked up to the cross to take in the view of the whole city, and then back down again to stroll along the strip against Levant beach and up into the old town. A couple of drinks, a bit of tapas, chance to do a bit of "people watching", and an excellent "menu del dia" with a bottle of wine thrown in (€32 for two) makes for an enjoyable afternoon.

In summary - what's not to like?! (y)

Anyone else can chip in 👍

We're staying at Raco (we've got a dog). Decent enough, but I've located some very handy park-ups should I come again for a day or two in the future.

Villasol, (nearest to the beach and town), but you'd have to phone and check for vacancies. Many of the pitches are undergoing upgrades. ACSI is about 20 Euros, which includes 4Kw electricity per day.

HTH,

Jock. :)

Ah yes...I got my Villamar Villasols mixed up.. like the idea it's close to town

We love walking too. We used to walk from Beni to Albir and beyond through the pine forests - not sure we'll be doing that again....

We love to cycle too, although not the type of cycling you both do!

I think we just love the sun in the winter, and Beni gives us everything we want. (y)

Bet he's bot the first bore on the beach at least he's not wearing budgie smugglers

I've ended up booking El Raco... I'll be there 14-21 November if anyone wants to meet for a chat and cuppa..👍

If you haven't already, join the benidorm snowbirds group. Handy for posting ref meet ups and sharing local info. 👍

Everywhere I think, seafront, old town, walked up to the camp sites. Got fed up with overweight northerners trying to run us over on mobility scooters. It's a dreadful place.
Chris bellabee will back me up they only lasted 2 hours.
How did you know they were northerners??Plenty of fat folk in Southern England,,BUSBY.

Without wishing to hijack. One word.

Torremolinos?
No,no,no.Benidorm anytime, Costa del Sol OK from Malaga northwards and Estapona southwards,,,BUSBY.

Has anyone booked Raco or another site in Beni for Jan/Feb cannot find any availability online?

Last time I was in Beni was passing through by car in 2003, hated it and couldn't wait to get out.

Hate is a strong word. What didn’t you like I’d be interested to know.

So you gave it no chance then lol
Loved it when I was younger, but all we saw were drunks swaying around the place, so you are wrong in your assumption, and we were 10 years older by then maybe you know something I don't about it now, like I said 2003 it's a long time ago and I know places change all the time (y)

I have only stayed in apartments or hotels but I like the place i really do.

Great climate, nice beach and if you stay clear of some places a nice place to be.

Just passing through you would experience and see nothing..I delivered coal and loaded scrap in and out of Canterbury for years..Thought it was a dump..Stopped on the Park and Ride twice in Canterbury and visited for a few hours ,,what a pleasant surprise,,Lovely town..BUSBY.

You were lucky to be able to drive down the street where as you say drunks we're swaying,,,Not a route you would use if just passing through.BUSBY.
