In the case of pollution I don't think anyone is suggesting anyone else is lying or omitting any truths.
Hence all the major political parties back the science, however none of them are really ready to grasp the nettle to make the major changes required to resolve the issue.

In the Horizon scandal and the infected blood scandal anyone who suggested that the scientists, experts or doctors were lying or suppressing the truth were laughed at or locked up.

Till the truth came out.

Now obviously pollution does exist and is harmful but if a Council states that the CAZ charges are just to save lives, it might be as well to remember the above.

Are there any Londoners left in London ? In fact are there any English people still living in London, last time I was there I didn’t see or meet any !
Did ask to see their passports or just made your observations on what you want an English person to look and sound like, white with a st George's tat on their forearm, screaming reform, Boris did his best.

The more i read this forum the more conclusions I draw from a small but vocal bunch of poorly educated right wing idiots that have motorhomes. Its deeply embarrassing to be part of it tbh, not for long though.

Specialised Covers did not realise/know about the problem at the Craigs Honda end of Dockside Road.

I will enjoy the battle with Bradford council, they have meet more than their match with me, if I win the battle is another thing but it will not be for a want of trying !!

When you say poorly educated right wing idiots have you asked to see their qualifications or just made your observations on what you think a right wing idiots is like ?

All we are saying is give Rayner a chance. To paraphrase John Lennon.

I know lots of Londoners, most of them live around the south coast, Hastings, Eastbourne and others areas nearby, most of them say that not many true Londoners live in London anymore, and if you were implying by your post that there is a racial element to my post I would just point out that my son in law is black therefore two of my grandchildren are dual heritage so there is no way I’m being racial !

You can tell that to the estimated 48,625 UK residents that died last year where scientist say pollution would have been a contributing factor.

If you are not a scientist, and you disagree with scientists about science, it's actually not a disagreement.
You are likely going out on a limb with your limited knowledge, you maybe right but there is a good chance that you might be wrong.
Science is not the truth. Science is finding the truth.
When Science changes its opinion, it did not lie to you. It learned more.

In our youth we would have painted a wall with a lead based paint or kept pests under control with DDT.
Your Grandmother might have used mercury based makeup. Your Grandfather may have worked with asbestos.
Science has since learned that those things are not very good for you.
I’m not denying any of those facts, I remember the bad smogs we use to get, my argument would always be find a way to fix/cure the problem not use it as an excuse to tax people !

Yes I much prefer letters as it spins the whole thing out for quite a while. this one could easily fall through the net. I know how to wear these people down.

Thanks for the tip off though.

Let's face it, if you can afford to pay the various charges you can still pollute to your hearts content but the councils will benefit from it.

And this is the point for me. I don't like ulez style charges because it says if you are wealthy and can afford it then go ahead pollute. It once again favours the wealthy and the elite against the poorer working class

If they were serious about solving it it would be an outright ban but that would cause major difficulties in all kinds of areas.

Otherwise I think they should work out some fairer way of restricting everyone with polluting cars. Cities across the world have systems like restricted access on certain days based on you numberplate. Allow cars in that have higher occupancy. Etc.

Charging is just the lazy approach.

The Scottish ones there is not an option to pay a fee to enter.
Edinburgh have been doing all they can to keep cars out the centre for years.
I must admit it's a much nicer place without them.
Only had a vehicle close to the centre once in the last five years.

I’ll correct that “charging is just the British approach”

ULEZ charges are probably a decent income source for local authorities like London who have been absolutely shafted and starved of the resources needed to fund social care and other key responsibilities. That doesn’t mean that it isn’t also an effective way to address pollution. Since when was taxation an inappropriate way to influence consumer behaviour. Think plastic bags, cigarettes, sugar etc

Would you be happy if it was just a straightforward ban?
As I said in my reply and have stated before,Yes, it is what is done in most cities in Europe.
for local authorities like London who have been absolutely shafted and starved of the resources needed to fund social care and other key responsibilities.
So when TFL was crying out they were potless and gov.uk bailed them out with 500million did the fifth columnist instantly ring fence 126million for housing the rubber boat scum?

If your motorhome is more than roughly 8 years old (so not Euro6), you'll be charged.

Then if it's up to 3.5t, it's £9. If it's more than 3.5t, it's £50.

And if van registered as disabled on v5 no matter it's age it's no charge.
How silly is that

But that also favours those with money as they will have two cars with alternate numbers.

I guess so - push bikes only (not electric) it is then.

It depends how it's arranged. It could be cars registered in certain areas have one day those elsewhere a different one.
Of course zero emissions vehicles would have access every day.

Being pedantic, there are plenty of vehicles with zero emissions.
Zero tail pipe emissions and I would agree with you, Zero emissions then resolutely no.

Rubber and brake dust, manufacturing and transport to site of sale/use, energy to charge the battery (not guaranteed green and renewable in all cases), these are just a few that came to mind, there are many others.

This is interesting.

Ok. Apart from the grass on your lawn, show me 1 thing on your house which is 100% zero natural

Mzracer is correct. EVs still throw off a lot of particulates from brakes and tyres. Some reports are suggesting they are as bad as a regular ICE for particulates. Another report said half the micro plastics in the ocean are from car tyres. EVs need new brake and tyre technology or there's a risk they'll get banned from city centres too (although they still cause congestion and accidents, so there are legit reasons to do so).

Note that EVs still enable renewable energy to be used, so I'm not saying they don't have a point. But they aren't a silver bullet that solves all the problems with cars.

The government’s will not lose money, so if EV’s become common place they will want to make up the losses from fuel tax etc so they will put big charges on EV’s, they won’t be a cheap alternative and as stated they still produce “pollution”
