Armytwowheels & Sid James - Grand Tour 2016/17

Thanks Judith, much appreciated. I think I will feel safe on the aire, it's more like a campsite with locked gates at night. We also have friends staying in an apartment just down the road as well, so I won't be too isolated. I didn't fancy running Colin into the airport on the scooter and back again from Totana #numb bum!

Thanks Martin.
No, we are not going to Morocco this year. We always intended to give it a miss this year but got the paperwork ready just in case. However, with Colin potentially having to fly back for tests we are going to stay in Europe. Are you going?
We too plan to stay in Europe this winter. Late Feb - June. Will keep an eye out for your whereabouts and hopefully will be able to hook up with you along the way. Our plan at present is to travel from the coast at Peniscola all the way down to and on to Cadiz before entering Portugal early to mid April depending on weather.

Sandra and Colin sorry to hear your plans are being changed although it might be for the better as once he's had the results you can then plan better. My brother stays in Murcia although he travels a bit so if you need any assistance feel free to ask.
Also if driving back worries you again feel free to ask and I'll help you out.

Our drive through the Pyrenees and the Somport Tunnel was simply stunning. I wouldn't reccommend it in the true winter but at this time of year it was beautiful, far nicer than the usual drag around Bayonne and Birritz. We spent the night on another free aire in the centre of Turael, half way between Zaragoza and Valencia. We covered just under 500k yesterday with another 434k to do today. Far too many kilometers a day for my liking but we are on a mission.

Hope all goes well with Colin.
If you have to drive back, stick to the main roads and you'll be fine.
Keep us all posted.

That place you are parked in is a lovely place to stop. Ideal in spring /summer due to the shade from the trees. Ideal to overnight as well. Normally you can watch the Eagles above on the thermals in the mornings.Just down the road before you get to where you parked where the fields are on the left I watched dozens of young eagles taking off/landing in the fields.

I even use it for a stop when going northwards ,although you can't turn in left so I go under the viaduct , turn right straightaway & 3 point turn & come back to it. I always go that way as the scenery through there , & all the way up to Langon, is stunning.
Even though I don't like the cold that is one area that I wouldn't mind living in.

Did you notice they refurbished & reopened the railway through there ? They started in 2014 replacing bridges , track everything. Only as far as Bedous at the moment though.Supposed to have reopened in July this year but I never saw a train on it.

As other's have said if you need anything just shout up as I'm not far away either.
I've actually got to go to San Javier next thursday. Haven't been over there for some years now ?

Where are you? Not San Javier already???
Yes, we have done mega kilometers over the last two days. We hate travelling like that but if Colin is flying back on Tuesday we wanted to be here and settled in.

Unfortunately Colin has to fly home for the tests.
