Our bike rides around Rutland Water and Hambleton Peninsula. Very cold but bright and sunny. Gorgeous autumn colours too.

Have had two PSA tests in 6 months, following quite a long time on medication, both showing borderline results but doc says we'll just monitor it. Went through the whole gamut, biopsies etc., a good few years ago with negative result even though the PSA numbers at the time said "problem".

Colin will have learned that this is not an uncommon situation for those of us "of a certain age" and it can be worrying. However statistics show the majority turn out to be negative or benign but even if positive often nothing needs to be done as the cancer can be very slow growing; just regular monitoring.

Yer man's got just the right attitude and I totally agree with his outlook - lets get ALL men to discuss this subject. Meanwhile we're sure to meet you out and about soon.

Yes, before the next PSA test, avoid anything ahem - energetic  for at least 48 hours. Especially the bike though - that's almost always produces a worrying test score.

The uncertainty is actually a positive thing. It means that if there is a problem, it's been picked up at an early stage, when treatment, if even necessary, is almost always effective. My dad found out too late, but that meant that I found out early. Mine looked pretty aggressive, so I opted for surgery. That was 6½ years ago & I'm still completely clear, so it was caught before it spread.

There are quite a lot of things that can cause a raised PSA result & quite a number of the benign causes can also give inconclusive rectal examination results too. Not that knowing all that stops you worrying of course! I hope they get on with it - once you know the test outcome, you'll worry less whatever the result - I know I did, even though my result was positive.

After much uncertainty and another inconclusive test for Colin we are finally off on our tour. Eurotunnel here we come :clap2:

The specialist has given him his bleasing to go but wants him back in a month or two for another test, which he will fly back for.

Fantastic news for you both. Now get out here for some sun. Look after my package, please :). See you in Jan???

If he flies back into Bournemouth or Southampton I can help with transport Sandra and you know you have open house here even though you raid my booze and lead me astray far too often.

How long have I to leave the Sloe Gin for before I filter and consume?

Call in here on your way if it works for you.

Jackie and Griff

Thanks Griff, that is very kind of you to offer to pick Colin up from the airport and drive him to Leicester!! We are booked into a campsite just 15 minutes from the tunnel for tonight and have a 9:20am train booked.

I would leave the Sloe Gin for as long as you can bear it. They weren't the ripeist of berry's I am afraid. It should be drinkable by January, but you could always filter it, have a little taste and let in stand another couple of months if still a little sharp.

I shouldn't think so, we are not planning on being over that way until the Spring.

Colin is on a mission to get there now. Sod camping in Folkestone he said, let's go to Wissant. So after yet another amendment to our booking (4 in total) we are waiting to board. Never fails to be exciting when waiting here.

I did wonder why you would want to stop at Folkestone when you could be over the other side in 35 minutes.

After a peaceful night at the Wissant aire - apart from inadvertently parking in a coach bay and being rather loudly tooted by the driver as he returned, accompanied by lots of arm and hand waving. We moved pretty quickly to a non excisiting spot which although safe blocked a Swiss van in.

Knocked on the Swiss vans door to try and find out what time they planned to move. Well, a fairly humorous 10 minutes followed where neither he or I understood one another, but eventually we got there when he went over to our van and wrote on the dirty side that he was leaving at 14:00! How rude, but yes the van is that dirty. I wrote a 09:00 depart, he seemed happy with that, we shook hands and returned to our respective vans.

Getting back to cooking the dinner and there's a knock on the door, what now, is it plod telling us we cannot park there? No, it was the coach driver asking us for jump leads to start his car!! Off pops Colin to the rescue, I turn the dinner off, again, and I'm on 'foot on accelerator' duty while Colin clips on the car. By now the driver is our best friend and has forgiven us parking in his bay. Eventually we eat and enjoy a meal of spicy meatballs and spaghetti all cooked in the double skillet. Maybe there was a sly glass of red with it too.

We are making our way to Ile de Rę for a few days R&R (if the weather is nice) on the recommendation of Cliff @cliffandger, via an overnight stop at an aire near Alençon not far from Le Man's.

Sandra iv'e just caught up with this thread, sorry to hear of Colin's results and please pass on my best wishes to him and good luck with everything

Thanks Gerry.

We are looking at it as 'No News Is Good News'. There can be several reasons for a high PSA result and the good news is they are not going to leave him alone until they have found the reason or the count comes down. The important thing is he is in the system now and will be checked regularly.

The event better news is that the SUN IS SHINING at last!
