Are CAMC finally getting the message

Don't think anyone is negative about people who use EHU.

The problem is for those of us that don't want it is sites that include it in the price.
I very seldom stay on sites and I certainly wouldn't stay on one when there is no option for a lower price without EHU.

A lot are of the problems are the manufacturers, Motorhomes should be self sufficent. When you buy a new van shouldn't have to spend several thousand upgrading it.
A lot of us on here have german vans and the first thing the germans do when arriving on site (after checking the telly signal) is plug in to the EHU so maybe its just a mind set thing.

CAMC don't have a site in Folkestone do they?
We joined the CAMC this year purely for our stay at folkestone before and after our trip to europe ..but won't be renewing again.

As far as I am aware, and I admit I don't follow club policy any more.. sorry. But apart from a few sites ( I could go and find the list, but can't be arsed ) you are allowed to charged leccy vehicles on club sites BUT this has to be through your vans electric... IE plugged into your vans 240v socket with your van plugged into EHU.
May Have Changed.. don't think so.👍👍
Your right about taking energy via the van, Y splitters are not allowed

The wardens would have a hisdy fit on an Aire where its not uncommon to see 4 or 5 vans plugged into one outlet.

Was at Freshwater East club site a few days ago and asked wardens about charging EVs. Response was that the vehicle can only be charged by plugging into your own unit and not a bollard plus £9 per day extra charge.

For several years that CAMC Black Horse Farm site was the only UK site I ever used. Handy for the Chunnel, with its ferry pitches.

Before anyone gets the wrong impression from some of my comments on here about our feelings towards the C&MC we are seriously considering not renewing this year. However I wonder who you are referring to when you say that the club is run for the benefit of a few and how does that benefit manifest itself?

Yes black horse farm , Densole .....and it classed by the club as folkestone and is literally down the road from the tunnel soooo .....that'll do .

Exeter CMC site today, all I’ve got for company is white pegs! I reckon about 20% full and quite a few of them seasonal pitches. Where is everybody, are all club sites like this? Have CMC shot themselves in the foot with its pricing antics this year?

Looks like it. We haven’t used them this year and don’t intend to. Only staying a member because we might use them for a winter holiday in Spain and some crossings.

Wonder what their wardens are experiencing? Would be good to get an inside view.

We stayed at a non CAMC site on Saturday it was 80% full, by Sunday PM it was like the Mary Celeste, a bigger field than in this picture and about 5 units on it, we left Monday PM so there were only 4 (80% empty) its not just CAMC ;) (y) It is also why campsites have to charge what they do many on here always expect near 100% occupancy 24/7 which unrealistic

It's a Nice site with facilities but........those who work won't be out in their MoHo's give it a couple of weeks and the schools will be off so it isn't just

Sorry, I mean yes they have shot themselves in both feet with prices and silly parking rules.

Don’t mind a bit if silliness, but rip-off prices, no. I’m paying £22 with EHU here which is fair. Recently I was looking at a stopover in Castleton. CMC wanted £54, no way Jose! Same date is now £45, so called ‘dynamic prices’ I suppose? I’ll hang on until it comes down to sub £30 as that’s all it’s worth. If not, I’ll go elsewhere, seems plenty of others are doing likewise.

But all other sites are quoting the same prices. CCC at Barnard Castle want £94 for 2 nights as min stay. £76 for members.
I’ve checked CCC rates for same period and they’re about £10 cheaper - still overpriced, but every little helps! There’s always an alternative. I think the Red Well Inn or Viewforth Meadow CL is the place to stay there.

I doubt anyone is reading them. Mine stay in a pile along C&CC ones. Then when I am really bored, I scoot through about a dozen, that takes about 10minutes. Then in the bin they go.

C&MC Garlieston a month or so back c90% full for a fortnight.
Maybe it's the side location?

Busy here at Thirsk Racecourse....at £26.60 a night for 2 adults.... Bargain compared to other Club sites.... Maybe the club might take a look as to why it's busy..... Lol
Perfectly good site. I think Thirsk is like Exeter, CMC act as agents for the Jockey Club rather than have a direct stake in the site which happily preserves those kind of sites and the very reasonable prices. Not sure about the future though, maybe not enough glamping and serviced pitches opportunities for CMCs liking?

Looked to have 3 nights at Pentewen Park in Cornwall (private site) in a couple of weeks, very little availability at £29 per night for nonEHU pitch or £47 per night for EHU pitch, £18 pn for electricity!

I'm on Thirsk at the moment. Very busy and I've just discovered it has free, fast, WiFi .
