All the gear, and no idea!
Anyone on here with a Hymer Grand Canyon 4x4 Thoughts please…..
Asking for a friend👍

That's just not true. As stated above, it is just the border with Syria....it leaves a massive country open for exploring. (I'm following a young man who is cycling round the world, he has spent 2-3 weeks cycling across Turkey and loved every mile whilst meeting hundreds of very welcoming locals)
So the Foreign Office Travel advice is wrong is it?
Every time I have been to Turkey we have always been told that the Eastern side with the Syrian border is out of bounds for Tourists for your own safety.
So we have always adhered to that official advice.
Each to their own.

The travel advice is the travel advice...your post stated the following ...it made no mention of just the Syrian border area (within 10km actually) Not wanting to get into an argument or multiple posts/reposts...but being accurate matters..IMHO
Tourist travel to the Eastern Borders of Turkey has been highlighted by the Foreign Office as a NoNo.

Pity he couldn't come up a bit more £££
I know of an absolute stunner of a MLT 580 4X4 coming up, would keep SWMBO happy, it's a January 2025 fully loaded with every extra for 30+k less than new price.....

Looks beautiful but it’s more than double the price of the GC, a massive difference to some.

We toured Türkiye for 3 months and been down to the Syria border area in Turkey and the Iranian border area too and it was a great trip we met some fantastic people including Iranian motorhomers who were some of the nicest & friendliest people we've ever come across, we still keep in touch with some of them & in fact i was WhatsApp messaging some of them recently during the bombings in Tehran,

Friend wants to spend time in the Sahara, see the northern lights in the Nordic winter, and go to the eastern borders of turkey with Syria, Iran Iraq Azerbaijan and go to Georgia! He says it might be easier with a 4x4👍
Your friend needs to check insurance. People have found that their 4x4 isn’t insured when off road

I have a 2022 3LV6 4x4 RP Rebellion and live it. The transfer box giving low ratio gears is a game changer for descending perilous downhills using engine braking only thus saving the brakes.
And the 4x4, in addition to the benefits listed above, avoids the bum-clenching wheel spin on steep climbing narrow hairpin bends where the camber lifts the rear inside wheel.
Upshot: we brave much more challenging routes than we would otherwise do.

Drawbacks: floor height makes for a very high step; it guzzles diesel and adblue.

Well my friend has decided not to purchase it, he’s says he’s gonna get a nearly new dark grey one, his Mrs didn’t care much for the inside, he tried to like the white outside but he prefers the grey but it’ll cost more money that’s for sure🤷‍♂️
It goes on t’internet tomorrow, bet it’s gone by Wednesday👍

We looked at several at Düsseldorf shows.

A bit cramped for us.

We had a La Strada Nova M, 3 litre V6 RWD. We didn’t like the bed in the roof, felt like a coffin.

I think the better option, unless you really want a PVC, would be the Hymer MLT.

With rear wheel drive a good all-season or winter tyres, you won’t need 4x4. As mentioned above, it’s more 4-Matic AWD.
Here is a nice MLT
