These are enormous! probably been answered before, but I'm so reluctant to stick these on my lovely new van.
Any suggestions how to attach these in a way that they can be easily removed once back in the UK please?

It would fail an MOT. If a pedestrian did get to close it could inflict damage and the owner would be liable, nice payout coming to the injured party.
No idea what all the fuss is about tbh just spent 9 weeks in France and they're on the majority of larger Mh.
Again with respect the side repeaters stick out more than the signs and as an MOT tester for over 30 years they would not fail a British MOT so where you have your information from I would like to see the evidence.

Just so people are aware.

it's not an "i read it on facebook post" its fact.

Read the French Highway code. Rule R. 313 32 1

Angle morts stickers are only required in "urban areas" on Vehicles over 3.5t

Therefore, if you are not entering urban areas or merely transiting through France, you don't need them. We often get off at Calais and head for Belgium so therefore not required.

That's very helpful thank you.

So just to be even more clear, my vehicle is rated at 3.5t, so that's ok without stickers because it's not OVER 3.5t ??

I had a big problem removing the adhesive left on the bodywork of my van. It events came off with some fly and bug remover . Magnet next time
Petrol is best for removing the glue.

We followed a huge lorry carrying beet earlier. He sat at lights turning left. Large red flashing light with bike symbol flashing. A cyclist still went up mine and then his nearside.

So many seem to think the Darwin Award is a prize for cycling.

When we were in the States a few years back, I saw a couple of lorries and several buses had barriers that came out when stopped and indicating so they couldn't go up the inside.
A law i was told about in the US, is if a yellow school bus stops to drop off kids, it is illegal to pass it.

Yes that's correct, but I am not sure in all states. If the yellow flashing lights are on, you don't pass.

. But I see lots of ducato type pvc’s with them on. I suspect some folks like adorning their vans with them, so simple assume they have to have them as they see others with them.
Not necessarily- and here is another aspect of how ridiculous the regulation is.

Our 6.3 m Boxer PVC came to us rated at 3.5 tonne so wouldn’t need the stickers.

However we have up plated to 4250 so now we need to have the stickers fitted, even though the vehicle is identical in all other ways to how it was before the up plate.

So maybe the ones you’ve seen are in the same boat?

The main reason for fitting them is in case of an accident- if you don’t have them it is questionable how you are placed insurance wise.

If you are required to fit them under this law. Yes, might be a problem. Any excuse for insurance companies of course..!

But only if over 3500kgs and in an urban setting for which I would imagine you would also need the crit air sticker, so keep out of cities! They don't make a blind bit of difference otherwise it would be full EU implementation. I can see it going the way of the French Breathalyser requirement. 🎣

Also, you really don't want to be the driver of a vehicle that is involved in a fatal collision with a cyclist and not know you did everything possible to avert it.

It might have been entirely the cyclist's fault and the signs might not have made any difference but you definitely don't want to spend the rest of your life wondering.

Yes the French made it a legal requirement to carry two breathalyser tubes in the vehicle and it was quietly dropped but the ferries still promote the Legal requirement to carry them, must have bought loads of them and are stuck with them! you no longer need to carry them

Not true, unless you can show it in the actual decree! See post #31 above.
And the crit air requirement doesn’t apply to all urban areas (yet!)

Vehicles exceeding 3,500kg in France

All motorhomes and caravans (not combined with towing vehicle) with a total weight exceeding 3.5 tonnes must have a sticker showing the position of the blind spots, visible on the sides and at the rear of the vehicle. These regulations are in force since 1 January 2021.
How are we defining blind spots?
With the mirrors and the reversing cameras I don't have any of those, so I think...

You probably do. Get someone to walk up along side the van and look in the mirror, they will not be visible all the time.

Done that, they are visible .. I can see both sides of the van, including the sides themselves, all the time. There are four mirrors. The rear seems to be covered by the reversing camera, which is on all the time.
It isn't a huge van, 6m, maybe bigger ones are different though I can't see how they would be. Struggling to see the problem.

You never did need to carry them. This law was passed but never enacted... so never came into force

Smear vaseline (or petroleum jelly, which is identical but 1/10 the price ;-) ) on the paintwork before applying the sticker. Petroleum jelly is easy to remove when the time comes ..

It’s not about what you can and can’t see it is to tell the cyclist of the danger,if the signs are there and he comes to grief thats his problem,if the signs aren’t there it may be yours. Rules are rules police stopping Motorhomes vans and trucks this morning on the motorway going to Gumaraes, not sure what they are checking obviously the stickers are not required in Portugal.

Interesting perspective. I need to tell lies on my van, to be safe?!

put them in cab windows at the rear behind blinds so not in way of mirrors when near a town,
They are meant to be stuck on so the muppet under taking you can read them. That's if they can

After the accident & before assisting you stick them on.
e otherwise it would be full EU implementation.
They exist in Spain but are voluntary to use.

I wouldn't .
