Ok. So may be a little over in my figures. But I am looking for a motorhome again, this time to full time for 18-24 months then keep as a weekend toy after.

I have a healthy budget (£60-£110K) and am open to all options including RV's if I can fit them places.

However it seems that all the high end UK one's like the Carthago Chic line ones have the worst lounge areas I have seen in any motorhome.
carthago_c-line_5.9_-_031.jpg

They can seat 6 people for dinner in zero comfort. There is no way to properly relax with a movie like you would at home on the sofa. And I don't ever want 4 other people for dinner. Just me and the missis is enough.

I viewed this new Kon Tiki today and while the cab seats are nice recliners there is again a random bit of wood to stop you putting your legs up comfy on the sofa part. guess you could cut it out. But the sofas. I mean look at them. flopping down. No side wall to lean on and pass out during said movie. Its like the people who design every motorhome have no idea how to make something comfy and just want to get as many seats in as possible to be able to say hey look at us. We can seat 19 people for lunch in ours.

Rant over... Help... find me a decent one. Ive looked at hundreds and they are all crap.

p.s. this is all I want to do.

We have a 'L' shaped lounge with the long side big enough to make a 5th berth and the short side being the forward-facing 3+4 belted seats.

At the foot of the long side is the table extension slotted into brackets. Thus there are backrests at each end, so we can both comfortably sit(lounge) there foot by foot.

This layout seems to have gone out of fashion in favour of the opposing, but short, sofas

If you are going to spend all your time inside sprawled out watching TV you might as well stay at home.
Totally agree 👍 but if you're caught in a bout of bad weather and don't have the option of heading further away from home to find somewhere better, then it's nice to have things to do inside.

My mate has that in his E Line I hate it, you can't watch TV from the passenger seat. So only one comfy captains seat for watching.
You can - the TV swivels out and works for both captain seats - were using that layout happily with 3 of us in France at the minute.

For me the best place to lounge is outdoors. The van is where the fridge and drinks live. A place to sleep.

Try sitting outside when it's -5 or are you a fair weather camper 🫡 From what I've seen of the current UK weather you're not going to be sitting outside much so a decent lounge is imperative.

Not in my mates e line it only swivels out a few inches, IMO rubbish design.

I think you will find that the tv once pulled up will swivel around on an arm. At least it does on our C Tourer

Have just taken a pic to show the TV swivel - ours is also a C-Tourer (chosen as it has the massive rear garage / fixed rear beds and drop down front whilst also, importantly, having great load capacity - we cancelled an E-class order as it would have been illegal before we left the drive with the same extras on it).

The C tourer doesn't have a 32" screen so it swivels further, my mate's last van was a C tourer.

I

I'm with the OP on this one. How comfy are they with your feet up?
We think they are very comfy. I think the OP posted a pre launch model or something. Ours does not have the wood at the end so you can put your feet up. Our seat cushions also fit nice and are cosy.

We wanted to lounge exactly like that in a motorhome! We bought a Burstner lyseo 644g last year. It does have a drop down bed but it’s longitudinal so no climbing over one another. This was the video that sold it to me, where you can actually see the drop down bed at about 19 minutes (it’s a very in depth German video)

Bed is big and comfortable and no hassle to flop the back cushions of the sofa forward to lower the bed. Pillows can stay on the shelf and the bed can stay made up. We use a fold up step rather than the ladder for the bed and have removed the big table for more lounge space.
The ‘parcel shelf’ above the garage forms part of the bed, which is a really clever idea and just about big enough to doze on during the day. A handy storage compartment is under the parcel shelf mattress that now contains a fold up table the we use for indoors and out.

Happy van hunting

Doesn't look like you can use the lounge with the bed down like in an A Class.

We are happy with our "U" shaped lounge loads of room to chill with your feet up and enjoying a glass of wine, our drop down 24" TV has excellent viewing from all seats if required though mostly we chat and listen to music.

Been to Lowdams today for a look and try out. Tested the Malibu as no C-Line ones in stock. I did really like it. Was comfy as previous person said. Liked the door to the bathroom / bedroom area. LOVED the underfloor storage. Pop up TV was good.

I’m going to do some more research on these type now and sit in a few more.

The drop down bed was handy as when the kids are with me I can throw them in the main bedroom then drop that down later when we are ready and done using the lounge. Rest of the time it’s out the way to keep the lounge usable.

I still think it’s not the best use of space by any means but it was comfy and a really nice van. Been new it was £30k over budget but I assume 18-24months old I should get one around the 100k mark.

The only thing I dont get with German motorhomes is the shape of the lounge, one big long seat and one small jump seat. Even on some 9m motorhomes. If Swift and Autotrail can make better use of the footprint, what cant they.

I looked for ages for a two berth with the same requirements, eventually settled on a Nuevo EK, automatic with Captain's chairs, excellent and so comfy.
I think the key word here is compromise.

It is a 32” TV - see my picture. Maybe we’re talking two different vans - mine’s the integrated (A-class). They do several different tourers and I guess the layout chosen may also impact on the size of TV they fit.

Lynne Roy is looking to sell her Malibu it's about 2 years old nice van we have been in it. Can't remember if its twin singles or a island, I think it might be an island. It's loaded with extras.

Genuine reason for sale they have moved to France and it's a RHD.

Came across one of those last night. I thought it looked awesome. I assume they are only 2 traveling belts though?

It’s going to be me and the missis full time but I’m a divorced dad and every other weekend I’ll have my two young kids for 2 nights so I’ll need belts and a bed.

Do like that liner for 2 though

We have a Liner-for-Two and there are two seat belts and head restraints in the rear lounge.

Doesn’t the Liner for two have the same weight issues as the E-class (unless you go for the Iveco chassis)?

Alphatronic but it’s quite clunky - we use a Firestick on it mated to our mobiles (EE contract where we have free use of our home contracts abroad - 600Gb between us - we’ve used 100Gb so far in 10 days between TV and work emails but can gift between us if needbe).
