I would burn £200 worth of diesel than pay that greedy cow.A few ml less piss than mine who wanted £199
that’s extremely expensive."Blackberry Vets: Vets in Lingfield | Affordable Lingfield Vets"
£250
ShockingLocal vet was going to charge £250 when I asked in March. Vets4Pets stated £167. MY son had to go in before or holiday in July and pay and they charged an extra £70 - for a new account. I am in discussion with the manager at present.
Avarice is alive and well in the Veterinary business!Shocking
Well done you, you can actually buy a dog for that moneyI have contacted ”rip off Britain”. Maybe they will run it as a story. £250 is practically theft as is £450 for three dogs on one AHC
We travelled to portsmouth to Passpets rather than pay our local ‘petsathome’ a kings ransom.I would burn £200 worth of diesel than pay that greedy cow.

I am playing the 'misunderstanding' line at the moment to give them an out.Shocking
Quick one:
Im planning on flying from the UK to EU with my cat, using his EU Passport (issued in Portugal, 5 years ago).
His previous Rabies vaccine expired, so he needs a new one.
Can a vet from the UK update the vaccination record in this EU passport?
I've done a lot of research and cannot find a straight answer.
I know that my cat can travel with this passport (as an alternative to a Health Certificate), im just not sure if a vet from the UK can update it.
I know nothing about this stuff but can't disagree with you.Even a small amount of research should have informed you that as the cat hasn’t a current booster you need to start again and wait 21 days before travelling. You will also need an AHC because a U.K. vet can’t add a rabies jab to the cat’s passport without it invalidating the whole thing.
So no, the cat cannot travel on the Portuguese passport.

Plenty of content on here, both ways. I can only go by my own (much cheaper) experience of using similarly qualified Vets in Europe...SNIP
I am not saying the price isn't high but you are asking a highly qualified individual (who also needs 150 hours CPD every 3 years) to create you pet passport.
Controversial comments I know but there are others sides to a indirect cost that Vets have we may not see.
I can take that on board but this is paperwork and not overly arduous. The majority if not all of it can be done by someone on minimum wage. An EU passport costs 15Euros.But is it a 'RIP Off' or has the changes post B**t meant more work (Process) for Vets, just pause a moment and consider for a vet to become qualified they have to spend 5-6 years at University at around £9-13K per year for course fees plus costs, they have to have an undergrad and postgrad degree so thier debt in our wonderful higher ed scheme is going to cost the best part of £80K+, they will have had to do placements or internments where they were paid very little. They have all their kit to pay for along with business overheads.

I understand your argument but it is often a veterinary assistant that completes the detail not the vet and the vet will sign. But is it a 'RIP Off' or has the changes post B**t meant more work (Process) for Vets, just pause a moment and consider for a vet to become qualified they have to spend 5-6 years at University at around £9-13K per year for course fees plus costs, they have to have an undergrad and postgrad degree so thier debt in our wonderful higher ed scheme is going to cost the best part of £80K+, they will have had to do placements or internments where they were paid very little. Pleas do tell the vet's that do it for less than £100I hear what you say re qualified vet etc etc Yhe form takes 15 minutes to complete The check up less than 5. At my vet that is £450 per hour. And at the vet above £720 an hour.
I grant you these are highly qualified individuals but that is a higher hourly rate than a consultant at a private hospital. Also, no risk, just fill out a paper form.
That’s why many vets can do it for less than £100

I notice every vet and the channel tunnel process has a chip reader that does not connect to their computer system.
The difference in cost is one uses a BIC Biro and the other a Mont Blanc signing penI understand your argument but it is often a veterinary assistant that completes the detail not the vet and the vet will sign.
However, it is more to do with understanding and application of the processes than anything else that’s why one successful vet on AHCs charges £100 and others £250.

Been there earlier this year 14 year old perfectly healthy up to then dog had a sudden problem.I'm afraid my view of UK Vets is just a money making organisation these days. A lot of local vets have been bought out by an American parent company, I moved from one that had to one that was a husband and wife (both vets) setup only to be told the other day (yet to be confirmed) they had been bought out by a hedge fund company. When I last visited a Spanish vet, the chap pulled up in a battered Renault Clio at 5 past opening time and charged me a very decent price.
In the UK, First question is "are you insured"
About 5 years ago one of my dogs was shaking when I got home at lunchtime, he seemed to calm down while I was at home, went back to work and he still wasn't himself a couple of hours later. They gave him a good look over, said they didn't know what was wrong with him and they could keep him in, do an in house blood test, possible ultrasound of his abdomen as she thought his spleen was enlarged (I offered to bring in my identical 2.25 year younger dog in, same breed, same weight for her to compare spleens, she didn't even acknowledge it with a response, she said let me give you an ide of the cost ............ "oh, that will be around 8 or 900 pounds"
I think a night in the Burj al arab would be cheaper! I said I'm not being funny, but when we had dogs as a kid, if a vet didn't know what was wrong they told you to take the dog home and see what he's like in the morning!
