ACSI books arrived!

If you’ve had a new credit card this year that sometimes causes problems as they try to take the payment and it doesn’t go through. Sometimes they tell you and sometimes they don’t. We had that problem. We now get ours from Vicarious books.

Obviously with all the post problems it could well be that of course.
Thanks, yes that's happened to me too, but should be okay this year as it was sorted last time.

My unwanted ACSI books have turned up. £10 + postage anyone?

Yes please........ I'll message you!
Wish I kept mine instead of binning them woukd have let you have them for the postage. Not sure of the value when the web is free?

The web may be free but you will still need the card to get the discount.
Yes but as I read it John Barrett is selling just the books without the card for £10 plus what will likely be at least a fiver postage as they are quite weighty hence my comment. Without the card the books are useless and web is up to date and free. Of course I may be wrong and the books will still have the card included and if so I apologise for any confusion 🙂

I assumed the card to be with the books! Here's to happy touring for all in 2023.

Hey John - a bit poor in the way that MichaelT called you out on whether the app code was included, but you may wish to edit the image to make the numbers (unique code) illegible - as this could be misused in the wrong hands.

Agreed, on receipt of the books, the buyer may find that someone unscrupulous has already used the code. 😳

Bit annoyed as ours was only in a cardboard envelope and was left against door in pouring rain. Trying to slowly dry pages out just a small amount of plastic would have kept the paper dry.

Books arrived today with camping card.

Sent them a couple of doubting emails cos I thought they were kidding me that they were in the post.

They were In the post after all.

Good luck trying to get the App to work with it!

There appears to be a problem with certain UK orders that prevents them from using the App (I’ve been waiting patiently for them to resolve the issue but no luck so far). 🤷‍♂️

Sounds strange, incidentally my subscription membership has gone from last year to this without any glitches with the App or maps on all 3 devices. First time this has been faultless for me

Our books/card arrived literally in the last post before we departed - just as well as we're now taking advantage, just south of Valencia in Spain.

Interestingly an email this morning reminding me about the app so followed the instructions and apart from it taking a long time to download I had no issues.

Not much good if you left the UK before it arrived though?

We can’t even let me buy the app using their link, it won’t let us. We put in our number as instructed and just circles. I tried to talk them on the phone and they said there is no problem. Now I can pay more for the app and maps on their app but why should I pay more when it’s meant to be cheaper with the card. Gave up and paid camper contact pro instead.

So the CC app is meant to be £3.99 with card but can’t buy it, as it won’t let me 🤷‍♀️

The ACSI one will let me pay £16.99 for all the maps.

What is the difference between the apps?

Let me try and help you there Spidey but I may not have the up to date knowledge, despite using it all the time. Forgive me for repeating things for others that may not know 😜

The discount CC scheme requires payment for the books each January and the discount card is in the cover of book 1.

I buy my membership by subscription direct with ACSI in Holland they take payment around October and post me the next years books in December.

You can download the CC App and as a taster can see very limited campsite information, used to be around Lake Garda.

The discount card has a unique number on it which allows you to buy and access the full details if the discount scheme CC App. You can do this separately but I get mine as an add on to my subscription and save a very small amount. I don’t have to do anything except update the maps to show the current campsites in the scheme. Sometimes, in fact often, there are glitches at this time of year during the swap over. I been known to have to download the maps 2/3 times and I’ve known sites in tge scheme disappear and then reappear again on the next map update.

This is the bits, now, I am not certain of as I have never used them.

ACSI also allow you to download an App, not sure which one, for the discount scheme I believe and you pay to download each country map separately. I don’t know if this is actually to give you discount and I don’t know how you would get it as the campsites want to see your card. Some even keep the card as security and return it when you pay upon departure.

They also have an App I believe that has small and friendly sites locations.

I believe they also have details of Aires type places that you can buy as an add on to one of their Apps.

Not certain but I believe they also do an App that has lots of campsites, not necessarily in the discount scheme. When I first joined you bought all this on a CD for the computer but things progress. The CD bore the same logo as in your photo, ACSI, as I recall.

There may be even more options now, but as I said I only ever stick with my simple subscription membership with the included App.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for taking the time to reply so concisely. I have the Acsi card with a number which is meant to allow me to buy the CC app and maps for the £3.99, further £5.99 for the motorhome one. Happy to pay that but the system won’t let us get to payment stage. We also have the Acsi app with the limited sites and are thinking we may just have to pay the £16.99 for all the maps as we can get to the payment stage with that. Think it’s an error on the CC app side but they won’t have it.

Thanks again, will probably give up as we have the books. We are IT savvy so not user error(I think). 😊.

As far as I know the app and the books are a separate thing and you need the books for the card.
As for the app you pay for each area separately but without the card you won’t get the discount we use the app for convenience as it saves thumbing through the books all the time.😊

I found the app a little tardy. A lot of the fun for us was locating sites on the pocket book maps and comparing them - easily done as they are often on the same page.

I’m thinking of asking them for a refund on the CC App and ordering it again. They have been ‘processing‘ my order for the App since 5 Jan and, consequently, I cannot download/open the CC App! When I rang them to find out what was happening with my order they acknowledged a problem with certain UK orders but had no idea when it might be resolved! They’ll be receiving another call from me before very long. 😡

Ooh I wonder if mine is one with an issue.
