Point to note if booking this site! If you book in advance rather than just turning up you have rendered yourself ineligible to use your ACSI discount card! I need to check my booking confirmation. Never experienced this before!

We have been out for a long walk today including coffee and then lunch! The Swiss Carthago Chic S plus left this morning but we have returned to find that we have been eclipsed by a Concorde Diamond Liner - it’s ginormous!

I hope one never parks sunny side of us (except if it's 40° then we'd wave them in).

Just been to empty the loo cassette and it’s a “Camper Clean” cassette emptying machine. Tugged it all the way up there to find it’s a machine and you need €2 every time to empty the cassette. There is only one on the whole campsite! On top of being denied ACSI discount this site has already put us off from ever coming again as, as far as I can see, there is only one grey water emptying point. The site fees are €192 for a week so €6 per night dearer than Mazarron with dire facilities in comparison. Not recommended and I have said so in their feedback form already!

I find those machines convenient and practical, but just to use it occasionally, not on a standard basis.
I want to believe it gives a good clean...

I have been speaking to the Concorde guy next door and whilst from Belgium, used to live here and has come back to visit friends. As a former campsite owner he is appalled at the indifference the site has shown him just because he has a big van. His wife has washer dryer envy of our little mini whirly dryer! She has a full sized washing machine but has no waste to plug in to so can’t use it!

We are both quietly and discreetly dribbling our grey water as the Motorhome dump area can’t accommodate our vans due to staff cars parked in the way and they won’t move them and I don’t think it’s a long enough drive in/reverse out bay anyway!

To stop being completely negative about the site we had brunch in Mario’s on site this morning. What looks a bit ramshackle is actually a delightful cafe/snack bar and we both had lovely coffees and M had a baguette with freshly grilled hot chicken and salad and I had Tuna & Anchovy and salad baguette and neither could have been fresher or more delicious!

Haven't been on Cabopino for over 20 years, we are not site lovers, and it's location didn't impress us...however it's very popular with winter visitors...

I think there are quite a large number of permanent residents here and quite a few Brits.

One can imagine it must be heaving in the summer!
The port has a population of less than 15k residents whilst 'Mazarron' as a whole is around 34k & that includes the port. In July & August it swells to just under 300k & that is mainly the port down to Bolneuvo & up around towards La Azohia.
Moved on today to Camping Cabopino between Malaga and Marbella. Lovely day! Travelled along the Mediterranean Motorway. Between the coastal populated strip and the mountains is nothing but greenhouses, mile after mile, hectare after hectare!View attachment 889641

If you think that is bad don't fly in to Almeria airport & look down. It covers 000's of kilometres.:Eeek:

Just a tad..
Bought a big long cake yesterday in Mercadona, enough for 4 good pieces for €7. Scrummy fruity, nutty, almondy croissant with icing sugar on top!

Four slices, they are an easy six or even eight slice Danish! 😉

I buy it far too regularly. 🫃

There is a lovely boardwalk at the back of the beach from Puerto Cabopino along the coast to the East. We have 2 good walks in the sunshine doing about 12kms including return. Some nice seafront properties and the odd plot if you have a few €b to spare.

Tonight we ate out at the Italian Restaurant on site but it also attracts lots from outside. It’s called Da Bruno and it’s Capabopino site is only one of three. It’s definitely high end!

M had Avocado & Prawn cocktail to start followed by homemade pear ravioli in a Gorgonzola and walnut sauce. I had lobster soup followed by seafood risotto and a bottle of house red which was Bela 3Stars. M was stuffed and could not manage a sweet but I had meringues with ice cream and chocolate sauce.

We stayed on Cabopino at the start of our trip and were also disappointed. You didn’t have to use the €2 toilet machine. There was a normal free option.
The weather wasn’t good to start with and we were stuck on a shady pitch. We’d prebooked as we’d been worried about nowhere to stay.
There’s just nowhere to wander other than the boardwalk. We’re keen walkers. No old town.
Agree about de Bruno restaurant and Mario’s.

That was where we were when we cancelled Portugal as the forecast was so horrendous for the next 2 weeks , wet, windy and 11 degrees and headed East!

At least we can now borrow your photos to show the family what it could look like!
