We once had snails and rabbit paella in the hills above alicante.

We’re at the Valencia Camperpark for a couple of nights. Spent the day in the city centre today and tomorrow we thought we’d head to the coast and harbour. Funnily enough we found cake. Nick looks very angry, Something to do with Arsenal losing and Man City having a very handsome manager blah blah blah!

Lovely photos!(y)
I went on the DVLA website to see about getting a replacement and it says you can’t drive until you receive it! Typical British bureaucratic nonsense!
You should really ask them how they work that one out as ,once you have passed the test & sent in for your licence , there is no legal requirement for it to be carried on your person when in the UK?

Additionally once the test is passed, you have a licence until age 70 renewal without ever renewing the photo & the only way it can be lost is by a court banning you or medical revocation.
You can go all your life without carrying your licence.

I am a very sad person and have just checked my saved emails from Sept 2022 when I had my purse stollen and thought my drivers licence was in it. I was in Italy so like Abacist I was worried what would happen if I was stopped. I quickly ordered a new one, saved the email. No mention whatsoever about not driving whilst waiting for new licence.

Found my licence the next day in my other purse with the rest of my cards. You would have thought I would have had the sense to check. What a plonker!

I had two more disasters yesterday but only minor! Does anyone else ever sit down in a Captain’s chair and the armrest catches in your pocket but you don’t realise until you hear the rip of material as you sit down! Did that to a pair of pyjama shorts and swimming shorts yesterday! It’s not a seam either, it’s a tear through the material!

Hopefully that’s your 3 things now so that’s it.

Only if you haven't needed to update your "pink paper" licence Richard, due to either an additional category attained, a change of address, or a loss of your licence, otherwise, an application for a 10 x year photocard licence has to be made. Rita still has her pink paper licence, and is quite adamant that she is not replacing it. God help her if I am incapacitated at all whilst abroad, and she needs to hire a car.

Cheers,

Jock. ;)

I understand a traditional Valencian paella is vegetables only, but I presume Bomba rice.

I only ever use Bomba rice, or Calasparra at a push if I cannot buy the Bomba, which rarely ever happens. I also always add prawns, chicken, chorizo & sometimes artichoke hearts with the peppers, onions & garlic. A recipe I I learned from our Spanish friends when living there 😋 They like to use rabbit.

Yours looks nice 😊

It’s move day today! Off to Puerto Mazarron or more particularly Camping Playa Mazarron for our next week.

Weather on the change for a few days, there are clouds on the horizon!

Enjoy your stay at our local coastal strip...although we adore the magical piece of Spanish coastline...it does get rather crowded...but fear not....this is a quiet time of the year...
Regarding you loss if driving....I have been driving in Spain for 25 years and have only been asked to produce mine on one occasion....and this was because I had been a naughty boy...so the officer claimed...but I hadn't really...

I thought UK licences last 10 years then you have to update the picture?

Got here mid afternoon. What a glorious campsite with nice big pitches and either lower or higher height due to the shade frames for the summer with on pitch electric, fresh & grey water disposal. Site

I don’t remember it looking like that but I was in the compound at the back, won’t ever go there again.

Sorry you didn’t like it! How long ago were you here and what time of year

It’s only our first day and first impressions. At least the pool and bar are open even if the shop & restaurant are shut still.

Site looks about 90% full I reckon.

Hopefully the seafront and marina and promenade will be good.

It’s certainly a much better site than Camping Coll Vert just south of Valencia

We had a cycle ride into town today which took about fifteen minutes. We some tapas for lunch which I forgot to photo but a Russian salad, potatoes in garlic mayonnaise, a slice of tortilla and a seafood cocktail. We then needed a walk along the front to walk it off! A few photos from the day.
