After wandering through the upper reaches of the Ardèche we were unable to locate any decent swimming spots due to low water levels. So headed over to the volcanic crater Lac d’Issarlès and managed to get an early morning swim in the choppy waters before the weather closed in.

Also found someone, hopefully still alive, who was determined to avoid the prohibition on wild camping!

On our way down to the C&CC THS at Kendal. Nice day to we decided to stop of at Wetsleddale Reservoir for a stroll and some lunch.

The United Utilities car park was an 'unofficial' overnight stopover on S4S but there are now official 'No Overnighting' signs.

One of the farms on the fellside was the setting for the Eighties cult film Withnail and I.

The 'waterfall' formed by the runoff from the reservoir is quite mesmerising to watch...

We are at Broadway CMC making our way up north. Progress depends on Ralf but he's seems to have settled down with bringing his food up and is at least eating something.

We caught the train today from Broadway
