Lovely frilly edges

The kind chaps that helped themselves to the red diesel in one of our timber forwarders also turned the vehicle's isolator back on, leading to two flat batteries. They cost over £300 each and we had a lorry coming today to pick the forwarder up to transport it to the next job. One battery was showing just over 4 volts and the other was down to 1.3 volts. My two "normal" battery chargers wouldn't even look at them as they were that flat.
Desperate times and all that, so I had a bit fiddle with my test meters and my mig welder and managed to get them both up to 12.6 volts with putting 15 amps into the pair of them @ 28 volts (24 volt system), although one had dropped to 11.7 this morning so, long term it's probably goosed.
The machine fired up straight away and the hydraulic pump that I'd rebuilt seems to be working fine, so fingers crossed for no more incidents.

ps. The little clamp meter was a recommendation on this site and I'd been keeping it in the motorhome. It worked really well monitoring the DC current.

Use to dread going on site in the mornings, apart from the 4 excavators I have had stolen and the front of my tipper lorry I would also have the worry of vandalism☹️☹️ last contract I had I paid for a monitored CCTV tower, was worth it as twice gangs of blokes were all over the machines until the tannoy scared them off🤬🤬

Here's a challenge for you then. Tomorrow (18th) At 14:10 local ill be landing the Jet2 LBA-ACE flight in there then flying it out at 15:10 local. See if you can get a photo of me airborne to add to this thread. 👨‍✈️🛬🛫
