Tide was on the fall so we cycled along the strand from Asnelles to Arromanches. A bit soft in places but a good work out.

Somebody was also giving Dobbin some exercise - or is it a cockle collector? Part of the remaining Mulberry Harbour in the background.

We had a swim followed by the steep slog up to the viewing point above the town. Someone even had a couple of young French soldiers to assist her on the final ascent, and wanted a photo to prove it. Can’t figure out why!

And then back along the cycle path, a beer in the bar, and watching the school parties get their first experience of sand yachts.

Down Llandegla bike park this morning. And no I never went sideways down the slope I just put my bike there to show the scale of the slope. You come down through a wooded section and then just go over the top and roll on down. 👍

I popped down to Watchet in Somerset to photograph the lighthouse. Most ot the journey from Gosport was easy despite my satnav! Coming home was more straightforward because I ignored the talking devil for the first 10 miles of B roads it wanted to take.

I planted those around a trellis, they marched southward and along the back fence mostly flowering facing south into my neighbours garden, they did look lovely from his side of the fence

Back home now and our budding future Modern Pentathlete competed in the North Cornwall Pony Club Triathlon yesterday - running, swimming and shooting - and placed 1st. Today he added the Tetrathlon cross country riding element, and with a clear round took 1st in that as well.

The memorial to the 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Regiment, Battle of Le Pilly October 1914.

All but a few that were wounded and sent back to the rear survived. Of the rest? Most have no known graves.

My wife's grandmother's eldest brother Timothy O'Leary was one of the men with no known grave.
