A photo of the day thread

Talking cars….I saw this on my travels today. I’d forgotten what a fabulous looking car this was, haven’t seen one in UK for a long time.

I like the older one next to the blue Daytona Coupe.
The white is not a good colour to show the lines off, nice medium metallic grey is good on them 😋😋
Not sure but i think the white one maybe a 250 GTO. And yes Chris Evens did have one (or more) but i seem to remember he sold it for about £12 mil
Come on experts correct me.

Car boot today in Isigny sur mer , they weren’t for sale, 1966 Mustang, 1956 ? Citroen 11cv Normale ,grey with black wing and a 1934 Peugeot 202( love the headlights on this)

For petrol heads.
Oulton Park being on the doorstep i call in often.
Setting up for Ferrari weekend.
Bertie was the odd one out.
BUT
Bentley were there testing 3 of the 13 only in the world Bentley Blowers Continuations. Beautiful looking machines and the sound, i thought i had died and gone to heaven.
One of the Bentleys on track.
I asked if i could take pics (being the polite person i am:p), the test driver said yes but please don't put them on social media.................is this social media:unsure:, i don't know.View attachment 754328View attachment 754329View attachment 754330View attachment 754331View attachment 754332View attachment 754333View attachment 754334View attachment 754335View attachment 754337View attachment 754339View attachment 754340View attachment 754341
Stopped off at a marina for lunch as the cafe in Oulton was closed.
Looks a great day Bob, would love to have been there even if only for the sound of those old Bentleys…….and of course seeing Bertie. 👍

Late leaving Réthymno harbour park up this morning, so it cost us €10.70 - tip for anyone else thinking of staying here, don’t leave it until after 11am or you’ll likely be boxed in as nobody pays attention to the marked bays! Anyway, today’s culture fix is a visit to Moni Arkadiou - detailed history of the tragedy on the link.

The central Katholikon and interior photos:

And finally, some ‘interesting’ and (hopefully) disconnected Cretan roadside wiring we stepped over going to the supermarket!

Now back on the south coast with a park up at Preveli beach with a visit to the monastery tomorrow.

Taking Rufus into German bars means we talk to a lot of people. Germans obviously, Transylvanians and Russians. All very friendly. This is Rufus saying he’s ready for his dinner. I only mentioned it once, I think I got away with it!
Ps I love German beer.

Saw this interesting caravan on the Municipal Site at Rennes today.

IMG_2878.jpeg

It is telescopic with three sections sliding into each other. The tow bar is on the opposite side of the middle section.

I did think or asking the owners to take in their washing before I took the photo but thought it may be impolite!😉

Big American car show Saturday (tomorrow) at Cany-Barnille a bit up the road from you. Check internet for details as we passed it today in setting up and saw a couple of mustangs

As the weather was so good we decided on a beach day yesterday, so left the van where we’d spent the night and headed off before the day trippers started to arrive.

Just a short hike up and over the headland behind - looking back over Preveli beach park up.
IMG_9467.jpeg

And then over towards the next bay and the aptly named Palm Beach.

Which is mega popular but difficult to access. You either take the relatively easy way that we took, which involves a not inconsiderable drive beforehand, hike in down the steep path in the background, or take one of the several charter boats that arrived to drop off and pickup later.

Which provided us with some good entertainment watching the trippers getting bounced aboard as the bow steps moved around when the boat lifted with the waves, all the while under power to keep it hard on the beach. Almost as entertaining as watching the German whoosh bangers with the high top Crafter attempting to get level the previous evening from our table at the bar - over 30 minutes and two sets of ramps in several combinations on different wheels, finally abandoned in favour of airbags and more time taken to finely adjust the pressure. I did manage a quick look over when I subsequently dropped our E&P levellers - not happy!

Even after just two visits we must be classed as regulars at the beach taverna now as the staff stood us a round while we waited for the car park to empty, which it did by 5.30pm. So we then moved over closer to the water for an evening G&T, BBQ pork, and the sound of the waves to get us to sleep.

That’s a shame as we’ve moved north making our way to Buchy vet Monday morning

That fascinated me, from a design and engineering perspective.

More here…

Moved on from Rennes to Roans.

We are on one “of those horrible Camping-Car park Aires”.

You know the ones just a big car park, on concrete, in the middle of scruffy areas. (Or so some people claim).

€13.27 per night, all facilities and 6amp EHU.
