I have to say it goes quite well as it's the 45 TTSi Sport at 250 BHP, it's well made. First Audi we have owned. She liked the look of it so what could i do. But it's bloody noisy with road noise. Anyway slowly bringing her around to change it. Has got 4000 miles on now so ready for a change.

Just got back from a few days in the motorhome
Got nice surprise Freddie our friendly pheasant had brought his lady to great me , both very hungry first pic is me outside conservatory with them , but unfortunately reflection on windows spoils it , I was stroking Freddie

Couple of lovely early VW motorhomes parked up in Bridlington, which is strange as at Christmas there was just the 1 with a for sale sign on it. Must have met someone online at dating dubs dot com 😀😂

Tidy looking vans.

I stayed there many times when I was getting that ferry regularly. Last time was about 4 years ago and was very disappointed that the adjoining restaurant had gone downhill and prices uphill.

Still a lovely area :)

Now at Grammeno Camping in Southwest Crete for some beachside R&R. A great spot on the Libyan Sea as recommended by PhilandMena in their thread last year.

The town in the background across the bay is Paleochora and we’re cycling in each day when not swimming and soaking up the UV. Grammemo is just gearing up for the start of the season, so it’s relatively empty (which suits us) although there are plenty of local tavernas within walking and cycling distance.

Few pictures from Paleochora.

Yesterday we took a trip to the Samaria Gorge with road and aquatic transfers arranged by a local travel agent. Up at dawn and cycling to the minibus rendezvous in Paleochora and then over an hour’s worth of switchback Cretan mountain roads to the Omolos Plateau and the gorge entrance.

Followed by the descent down the very steep first 2km to where you can start to see the effects the river has had on the rock over the millennia.

A few more from within the gorge proper.

Although all downhill it’s a hard slog to the isolated village of Agia Roumeli, where a well earned pint or two was quaffed while waiting to board the ferry back to Paleochora.

Finishing with a great meal in the high street and a cycle back in the dark.

Not done Crete. Must keep it in mind.

A week in and three more to go and we’re loving it. Great people, very independent and quite well disposed to Britishers. I feel quite at home when I see road signs used for target practice!

Re Crete:I buckled a rim on the road from Plakias to Rethymnon many moons ago. Rectified by a local chap with a very big hammer.

Re Cadiz: Last time I was there parts of that bridge were hanging in empty space. Big old project.
