A photo of the day thread

Chertsey lock on Sunday just gone - a tribute to Dunkirk - all the boats had participated. There was wartime songs, smiling, bunting and waving. I missed the boat with the Chelsea Pensioners on board. And at the end, they thanked us for attending - we thanked them for honouring the war effort.

And Blois today.

Can you tell we weren't overly impressed
I can understand why you weren’t impressed. No wonder graffiti artists think they are entitled to do their worst wherever they like if the authorities think desecrating those steps is beatifying an historic architectural feature. I hope it isn’t permanent.

I think this one came under art. (Says the bloke who hasn't got a scooby)
It is extremely visible as you come over the bridge into town.
There was nothing that caught our eye at all apart from the 13 euro entry fee into the big church. (It was probably more than a big church) but we walk into all the cathedrals and basillicas for free.
Can't see us returning. Seen a lot better in many places

And Blois today.

Don't know which way you are headed but abt 35 miles south of Blois at Valancay is one of our favourite stopover Aires....

Nothing too scenic about the actual Aire but in the heart of a very nice historical old town with an amazing Chateau at its centre.

We get to sit on the end of the rocks in your 5th photo looking for whales, dolphins etc travelling through the Minch during the Whale Watch/ counting days. Seen dramatic helicopter rescue work off the cliffs in that same ravine. In much worse weather conditions than you've had today!

Look what just floated by as we pulled alongside the Taub river in Germany and another going the opposite direction a couple of hours later as night fell. Note only the 1 small light at either end.

And 6.00 a.m. - the sheep haven't stirred themselves yet (it is a bit chilly and the grass is very wet with a heavy dew, maybe that's their excuse)

Out on today's dog walk and a "familiar" plant caught my eye, it was in the margin of a recently combined barley field and looked out of place ? At first glance I thought it was a spud or tomato plant, but a closer inspection made me think of Deadly Nightshade and a search makes me think it might be White Nightshade ?
I've seen the purple Deadly Nightshade growing in a commercial tomato greenhouse and I'm lead to believe it's related to spuds and toms ? There are some green berries that look like miniature tomatoes halfway down the left side of the plant, close to the stem.

Sorry to be so boring.
On a another thread there are comments about the A49. Just drove 25 miles each way. Hard too believe the tales of how notorious it is alleged to be when it's so quiet.
Love driving/riding this road.
