A photo of the day thread

We had to drift out a seized pin from a bulldozer blade yesterday, can you remember the old meme "When I nod my head son, you hit it" ? Well my son was wielding the sledge hammer and I was holding the drift 🤦‍♂️

I don't think anything's broken, I can touch all my fingertips with my thumb, it's just the swelling that's hindering things and the bruising is coming out nicely this morning !

Reminds me of that joke about Jeremy Beadle having a very small willy but on the other hand it was Quite Large

You have sympathy. I worked with one of the most ham fisted mechanics known to man. When we removed Leyland Tiger king pins I held the punch with a pair of blacksmiths tongs to keep far enough away form the heavy end of a sledge hammer. His choice of tools was normally an oxy acetaline torch. followed by a sledge hammer If he didnt break it he melted it.

My garage is so big i decided to lawn it. To be stuck down with double sided tape at a later date.
Hung some containers under the shelves i put in the garage. Great storage for the smaller stuff.
And, Mk 1 of the bed son has designed and will build for grandson. (computer picture thingy)

Son got a call out today to help rescue a Harris hawk. The tree it was tangled up in was too rotten to climb, so he climbed the one next to it.
The hawk wasn't too impressed and got into a right flap (🤭) which was enough to free off it's leash, and so it's still at liberty.

Tried out the Napoleon BBQ that we’ll be using with the MoHo for full Sunday lunch today. A decent corn fed, free range chicken that I halved, corn on the cob and padron peppers as a starter/nibbles:

Padrons with sea salt:

Main course veggies on - spicy tomato sauce on the go elsewhere!

Looks good but, if you’re not back tomorrow, the chicken was undercooked.

 No such worries - the Thermapen doesn’t lie - it was at least 75c in the thickest parts. Started it low and slow with a bit of added smoke to seal it and turned the burner right up to crisp the skin at the end.

It missed the house by inches. I was standing by that wall in my kitchen waiting for the kettle to boil. It was a nice quiet Saturday morning up until then.
