A photo of the day thread

Having a few nights away on Scotlands eastern side. Not the best of weather initially but started at the THS at Drum Estate, Danderhall, Edinburgh.
Warm enough to eat out...

Moved on to a CS just across the road from Perthshire caravans on the A 90 N.E. of Perth where a walk took us to this old kirk, abandoned since 1795 but the ruins are now maintained...

Headed north the following day but bad weather and road closures saw us retreat quickly south to the hard standing of the Falkirk Wheel...

Weather looked better in the east the next day so we headed along the coast past Edinburgh and had coffee at Yellowcraig...

I wonder if this is what they used to make Beech Nut chewing gum when we were kids?

I used to live near Wroxham, or Roysville as it was sometimes known, and would curse all the grockles. Now, I’d like to be one!
I don’t like to see those ponies standing in all that muddy water. It’s not good for them.
Apparently the horses/ponies are a Polish breed and belong in marshlands, their hooves are resistant to the problems normally associated with long term water emersion, this why they are being used to eat back some of the vegetation.

Being so close to The Kelpies did you not have a look?
It was absolutely peeing down and blowing a hoolie when we passed them on the M9!
We have visited them before though, and are well worth a visit especially when lit at night. (y)

Wanted to go for a drive so Elan Valley mid Wales was where i headed. Some dams. Very narrow roads, some steep hils, lot's of beautiful scenery.
Came out at Devils Bridge.
Then ended up at Dornafield in Battlefield, nice site but little expensive some will say £33

We love that area, spent many fun weekend trail riding around there.
Better uncoil your ehu lead before someone tells you you will burn to death😉

Lovely pictures. Just a question - is the tree beech or wych elm? Leaves are similar.

Not sure at all. Thought they were beech at the time but looks like you could be right with Wych Elm.....

Never seen one like the one at Kelso before.
Thanks (y)

No idea but it was a camembert from super u and it would have been on offer..

Ouch, I hope it heals quickly. Okay so camembert thanks, tartiflette is a dish made with Reblochon cheese, potatoes, lardons, milk and a little white wine, it's very yummy if you like hot gooey cheese things :giggle:

Bugger, just remembered i've not put the van up on the ramps....................hope nobody notices.

You could have saved yourself the £33 and wild camped in the car park in photo #5. 😉

Anyone manage to get a good picture of the magnificent Red Kite putting on a wonderful display at Newbury showground?
