A photo of the day thread

Today's sunrise from our "boondocking" spot. Taken from the doorway of the motorhome.

Few days in Grassmere (hotel).
God it was wild on Tuesday night Wed morning.
Took Mrs Bob over Wrynoss/Hardknoss Pass, scary but she loved it.
Good walk around the Roman Fort at the top. God it was grim up there.
Steam trains at Boot looked spectacular.

Driving through Hawk’s Crag on the West Coast of the South Island, NZ and hoping nothing is coming in the opposite direction.
There used to be traffic lights here to allow vehicles through one way at a time, but the generator was stolen so many times they took the lights away.

Continuing our journey along the West Coast of the South Island of NZ we wildcamped beside the beach at Westport, which experienced a terrible storm in July. Scores of people lost their homes and are still being accommodated in motel rooms while houses are being repaired or rebuilt.
This was the debris in the beach. I doubt it will ever be cleared.

We have something similar with plastic bottles:giggle:

Found these growing on one of the firewood logs I’d stacked in the barn at the weekend!!

The homeless sector did a pizza afternoon, providing all produce from a communal garden.... peppers, onions, tomatoes, garlic, beetroot, etc., and they brought out mushrooms on logs like that. It's the first time Ive ever seen them grow like that... Mushroom nutroast. :)

That is so sad. They look like skeletal bones showing the destruction. :(
Brilliant photo.

They would probably be shiitake mushrooms Joy. You drill some holes in the logs and press special mushroom spore pellets into them, then leave them somewhere damp (might be a good sideline for Swift owners ? )
