Well, what a difference a couple of days makes ? A "controlled burn" got out of hand and with no snow or rain lately and a fierce, dry easterly wind, the fire service have got their hands full, luckily, it was nothing to do with us !A view from Cogra Moss, across the Solway plain to the Galloway hills.

Is the cat expected to go outside in those temperatures?Ditch the Rockwool, fill the walls with Moose hair, stack the logs up, -28 C outside + 22 C inside
Below the original 1948 house (Moose hair insulation) which is better insulated than the 2019 house (far middle right) (Rockwool insulation) It was colder back in the 1940's than it is these days 1940 record low of - 43.5 C
"The coldest temperature ever measured in Estonia is -43.5 degrees, recorded at the weather station of the regional capital Jogeva in eastern Estonia on Jan. 17, 1940."

Yes the cat pottie is under the fir tree. They like to go out as their winter fur is too thick to stay indoor for too long.Is the cat expected to go outside in those temperatures?
I can imagine it poking its head through the cat flap and rapidly retreating to the fireside.
Is that bridge of orchy? No taken by me but a lovely drone shot. Feel cold looking at it View attachment 466560
