A couple from the walk today. A cold overcast day but with a 'hint' of brightness to the south...

All are showing different aspects of Mosedale valley towards the A66.

This next one was missed off a couple of days ago when it was a lot clearer. Looking east towards the snow topped Pennines.

The masts are the Skelton Transmitter.

The mast is, apparently, the tallest structure in the UK

A couple of links for anyone interested in radio transmission...

Happy & Safe New Year Everyone (y) (y)

Even though it's 15 miles from us, you can make out the guy wires on a clear day. I read the link to the transmitter and it mentioned the VLF submarine network, I was always lead to believe that the VLF signals were transmitted from the old RNAS station at Anthorn, near Silloth where the atomic clock signal is also now transmitted from it's original source at Rugby ?
A glimpse of the CAA radome too on the top of Dufton Fell, just to the left of the mast.

Graeme, Until I read the link, I always thought of it as a BBC World Service transmitter

There is certainly a higher level of physical security at Skelton than there is at Anthorn.

Wonder if there is a " team" on the way to "ask" why I am putting images of it on the 'net ??:giggle:

Well today's walk nearly got cancelled because it started spitting a cold wind was blowing, but our Izzy has had some lumps removed and had her stitches out yesterday, 😉 and we have been going stir crazy, so we packed the rucksacks wet gear hat gloves coffee water cakes oranges, put on long trousers and a fleece, and guess what it didn't rain the wind dropped and we were well over dressed. 😀

Just passed Moraira to Calp coastal path ( not where we had originally planned ) 🙄 but a nice day out. 😁
Not in the right order but hey ho. 😁 😎Bob.

How very quaint you are. :)

Is that your version of the silver lady on the bonnet of an expensive car?

Today we gave the van a run out, stopped at Oliva, it's one of those old Spanish towns you drive though normally stuck in traffic, had a walk up the castle what's left of it, and a wander round the town. 😁 Bob.

Looks good, did you have to raise anything to fit them, I have not checked our van, but fitting wheel covers to protect the tyres there seems less room at the rear, I'm sure Addie fitted them on his van. 😎 Bob.
Hi Bob - We did not raise anything, tyres that come off (Michelin Agilis Camping 225/75 R16) are the same size as the Goodrich.
