thanks jim , I’m now 230miles closer to Calais after starting below Geneva
unfortunately it was getting dark when I took these pictures
I’ve stopped at a village called Buxeuil in the champagne region.

Out walking the pooch and I noticed some bees popping into this hollow on an ash tree. Couldn't get a good pic of them going in and out of the tree, but they were living up to their reputation. Snapped a pic of one a bit nearer the ground and it had pollen on its legs, if you look closely. Any one know if they are the native wild honeybee ?
