A photo of the day thread

Not really as they don't have a bottom, though that was not their bottom in their former life........
They just look like bins used on a farm, can't really help, we had a similar thing for chaff, it sat on top of the wooden shute to take the chaff into another container, it's the handles that are fooling me, but you have a lovely display there.😀🐝

I would say they are hoppers to pour grain or similar into chutes in a mill

Update on the ”Chair” 🙄🙄

Took ages to get the gold paint off only to reveal a really bright gold underneath but unfortunately far to much damage done over the years to save much ☹️
Below this a yellow undercoat and a beige primer directly onto the Beech timber.
Lots of flat spots and original filling on the turned parts made it unrealistic to take it to bare timber So I decided to only partially strip the layers back with steel wool but needed to get it glued back together.
Found a date stamp (1955) and the letter (H) on one of the spindles.

Back to the steel wool in the morning as the glue will be set and it will be easier to work on in one piece.

A Bee Orchid in our garden.

That is a beautiful orchid. It puts mine in the shade, but then again, mine is in the shade and it is winter here, so I should be grateful to have an orchid at all. It took me a while to spot the bee on your orchid. Can you spot the Kiwi in my garden?

Looked but can’t see the Kiwi. When I snapped the bee orchid photo I didn’t see the hover fly/ bee on the flower.
Orchids are readily available in garden centres in U.K. now, used to be a specialised difficult to maintain .
Hope winter is ok down there.

I always thought orchids were difficult to grow but mine was in the garden when we bought the house 7 years ago and it seems to thrive on neglect.
Incidentally, the Kiwi is at 9 o'clock, next to the bird bath.

I am sure funsters have been wondering how progress on my patio is progressing re previous post....... or not. Well stage 2 complete with laying of paving slabs to start next weekend. Quite pleased with it as never done anything like this before. It has been hard work but great sense of satisfaction so far....... but gee it has been the oak sleepers we're heavy. Ha...... I'll be to knackered to live the dream..... and should have finished most of work in a few weeks..... then we'll be going away in MHome, so won't be resting on it for now. Not long to the Dream SMUDGER55
