A photo of the day thread

Happy Thanksgiving Funsters, woke up this morning to 6 inches of snow in Albuquerque. At least the grandchildren are enjoying it.

Unfortunate Bat failed to negotiate power lines in Arpora Goa.

Correct. Still here, leaving for somewhere near the Alps later.
Our French home is about 5 kilometres away so we know it well.

Nice market during the summer and great Cavalcade on the 1st Sunday in May each year.

A couple of summertime photos for you and anyone else who is interested.

The separate bell tower was to stop damage to the church due to vibration.

One interesting fact about St. Gengoux-le-National is that, until the time of the French Revolution, it was called St. Gengoux-le-Royal. Seems like a good decision to change the name.

We really liked it round here, unusually for us, we stopped for 2 days. We managed a ride along the Voie Vert before rain stopped play yesterday afternoon.
currently having lunch and deciding on our next stopover, probably near Dole

There is a campsite there, it is Durdle Door Holiday Park.

Croft farm holiday park looks nice as i passed. There are several other sites that don't show up on 'search for sites', (sorry but I cant remember the names).

Luxulyan pub shows up as a stop over.

Also, if you are not scared of single track Cornish lanes, there is nothing to stop you staying over in the car park; (zoom in close to the map I posted). The roads are very narrow and steep in places. Definitely not suitable for a large MH!

Enjoy the rest of your trip.

Glad you liked our area. If ever you revisit in summer feel free to PM in advance and we can show you round.

Yes, they are definitely Lavoirs. Used for communal clothes washing in days gone by.

Some are fed from a spring while others, like the one 100 metres from our place, are built beside a stream. The separating wall has a tiled, sloped surface, allowing the clothes to be dipped in the stream, scrubbed clean and, again, rinsed in the stream. The floor on the Lavoir side is below the stream level so the need to bend is reduced. A classic design, totally fit for purpose.

Visiting the varied design of Lavoirs is something of a sport in southern Burgundy. A bit like train spotting I think.:)(y)

You're all know it all's ( like me) amazing that these ancient buildings are still standing, yes they're all well designed and of all I've seen of a similar design though not seen one on a spring yet - - -we tend to find a lot of Geocaches near them .
