Walk with family

Thanks Techno very interesting, I have worked with a similar set up of CHP units of Gas turbines using their waste heat to generate steam with electricity being used to run large chillers. Not a new concept but extremely efficient. Luckily the new generation of gas turbines are emitting record low NOx emissions. Regulations on the emission of oxides of nitrogen from stationary gas turbines are being tightened around the world. This is how they will be getting away with running them in central London....(y)

Sunset through the door, at the BritStop - Metal Bridge Inn, Carlisle.

No facilities but a purpose built handstanding area for motorhomes on the riverbank.. Food is decent quality.

A few minutes off the M6 just before crossing English/Scottish Border.

You don’t have to be a member of BritStops to overnight here.

Will use again.
Think they must have spent a few pennies for the facilities, nice people too.

Fresh water and they allow you to empty your rubbish, but no black waste facility.

Battersea Power Station development.
A disgraceful exercise in foreign money-laundering, tax-evasion and property speculation.
It's a monument to greed.

Not sure where you got your facts from , but I say bring it on .
That site has been derelict for a few decades now , it's fantastic what is happening there and the jobs it will bring with it .
This London chap and his dog are very happy with it.

The prices start at around £600K for studio apartment (or £700K for 1 bed apartments) and then to £8million for the 3 bed..and then the sky is the limit for the suites and penthouses.
The occupancy periods will be, like all such high-end London properties, very low (typically used as holiday homes or not at all, just unfurnished investments).
It's funded by Malaysian money for international corporations and the super-rich to buy as an asset, and a hedge-fund purchase.
To think of it as "housing" is to miss the point of what high-end London property is actually for.
You need to ask why empty London property is so attractive to the Russian and Arab super rich.

They were allowed, by Wandsworth council, to reduce the number of affordable homes in the development to 386 out of 4,000 (initially it was going to be around 1500 I think).
I have no idea what "affordable home" means in the context of this development...very probably it means I couldn't afford one.

Anyway, luckily I think the area within about 10 miles of Battersea is a right shit 'ole, so they can charge what they like, when you step outside it's still Battersea and your Lamborghini won't be going more than 4mph.

A mate of mine has a housing association flat in the development he and his neighbours live full time in their flats with a view of the park.
As for the 10 miles around the area being a shit hole . Bollocks to your jealous small minded view.
I love London and I'm proud of my city. If you want to see a shit hole do some travelling there's many countries which have shit holes but not London.

Very cold this morning at 06:00.
The Hamburg is moored along side HMS Belfast. It really is a fantastic walk , no one was around and Laika the wonder dog just played ball.
Tony the road sweeper has been calling Laika, Lucky for some reason and she seems to like her new name , she really swishes her whole body when she greets him.

Yesterday's work place was looking across Mosedale Beck near Loweswater. Had to splice the winch cable back together to get the job finished, wouldn't want to do another one in a hurry ! The old cable was well used, have to get an 80 metre length ordered up, there goes the profit !

It's just full of tourists 7 days a week fuelling our economy (y)
We almost walked on from the Shard after one staff door lady quoted £32 each.
Before more than a few paces away the other lady said I can do you a discount
£24 each so we accepted.
Then up top Jacs bought Champagne at £14 a glass

Heading home in the morning thanks (y)
Really enjoyed the £5 guided tour of Crystal Palace from the museum. Fascinating!

This is exactly the height from the door of a Hercules C130 when the green light comes on. I told the wife the scale of the figures on the ground tell me this is about 800ft
She asked a guide and he said 800ft which brought a smug smile from me :D2

The 6th photo down you almost see my front door.
Great photo, that view has changed so much in the last 5 years.
If you google the Heygate estate, it will show you what it looked like before the tower blocks were built.
It's changed for the better in my opinion.
