Bus to Bridge of Allen , place called the Jamjar really nice lunch there last year. Like that campsite ,an ice cream van comes in at night during the summer , hopefully will be there for you tonight.
Will be going back during this summer, Enjoy
John

I was about to say "nice van, what is it?" then I zoomed in on the photo ...............praps not (ref Hymer thread)
It’s a c408 but really more like a burstner brevio than most hymers. Can’t be doing with the whole hymer thing. A good van is the one that you like that suits your type of travelling. Love it though as its small

Well I like it (y) (your van that is, not the grief on the other thread!)

Luckily @funflair mentioned it was Ascension day to day so we arrived a day earlier than planned (y)

Not too far away from Whitby; this is Staithes a small originally Danish founded fishing village on the Nth York's / Cleveland border where we used to go for one and two-day trips cod fishing. Most of the boats were wintered in Roxby Beck where these photos were taken.

View attachment 230702 We are on South Uist till Monday. Our view tonight, but we are shuttered by a building hopefully from the forecast 60mph winds through the night and tomorrow.
When it's not cloudy, South Uist is just visible from the front of the cottage. But I'm in Yorkshire just now, no rain, no wind, no cloud, lots of sun :D

@andy63 @Debs The view from yesterday's 'special delivery' courier run to South Shields :D

I remember the days when there was a touring caravan site where the red roofed Littlehaven hotel now stands. I think it was called 'The Groyne' after the short breakwater with the red 'Groyne' bell tower on it.

Many fond memories of weekends away and school holidays in my parents tourer, even kayaking in those early days and as there was no Health & Safety, I spent many hours on board the pilot cutter Caer Urfa ?, heading out to meet ships in some pretty big seas. Would they be allowed to do that with a 10 year old these days ?

Lovely photo ken...
The sea front looks good now.. with a good sea defence...
Gone are the days of finding your car floating in the sea front car park on a big spring tide if you happened to be away from it for to long...
Andy

@andy63 I remember the original road being washed away and it becoming part of the beach.
Where the road runs now, in front of the park was a large grassed area, where I used to practice casting my beachcaster.

Went to Pombal (50kms) to do some Continente Supermarket shopping and then popped around to Brico Marche to check this out...

It even has got headlights...

But buying from them would make servicing difficult (needed three weeks for each service/repair) plus they wanted to charge for delivering it... cheeky moos.

But have NEARLY decided to buy a very similar machine from my local shop who already know me...

I will sit under my pear tree and ponder over the weekend whilst waiting for a "sign".

JJ

Spent many a weekend in my youth fishing off the pier. Miss the North East.

Following from yesterday's view over the Alps.......

This was one of the Thunderstorms that we had to avoid out of Milan this afternoon

The flat layer of cloud was around 20000 ft high and the storm cells were 'peaking' through the top ........... like fluffy mountains haha

Looking at his suspension bottomed out like that, then I'm not sure what he could be smuggling in the boot, careful it's not a large gas canister for later:)
