Taken today at Donaña, El Rocio
A bird that I haven’t identified yet (any thoughts?) it’s not a buzzard.
I can't be sure but it could well be a Black Kite. It seems to be the most likely that I can find.
I agree that it can't be a Kite. Thanks but Definitely not a Black Kite with a tail like that.
I’m thinking possibly young Booted Eagle?I agree that it can't be a Kite.
I can see what you mean about the tail, it's normally forked. My bird book also shows the black kite with the tail fanned and similar markings to your picture of it landing which is why I suggested it. Could you give us an idea of the size? There are a number of different varieties of buzzard if it was that sort of size. Thanks but Definitely not a Black Kite with a tail like that.
Nice shots Alan what camera and lens are you using ..working on upgrading mine but so much choice so still doing research -. Love El Rocio always call in for a day or two on the way to Portugal ..Taken today at Donaña, El Rocio

Thanks but I have it on good authority that is a common buzzard there are lots of variations of them and I should have used the fall back of if you cannot find anything matching it’s usually a buzzard.I can see what you mean about the tail, it's normally forked. If it's the Loyne near Invergarry , I fished it almost forty years ago at the old road bridge. New road went up immediately after invergarry, old road you had to go to Tomdoun and turn after Tomdoun Hotel. Quite eerie when you see the old road either side of the loch ,bridge away long long time ago.Emerging from snow into sun (briefly) - Loch Loyne 23 Jan

Yes that's the place John. The roads were fine as far as snow and ice goes, I'd been watching the weather for a suitable 4 day patch to give me a warmer (ie above freezing) journey north, especially the day I was driving through Tyndrum and Rannoch Moor. But - in places the road surface was absolutely destroyed. The worst continuous bits were coming out of Fort William, and on Skye on the road from Sligachan to Drynoch. But there are so many places where there are huge craters in the roads, and where the roads are sinking or the edges falling away. Not a lot of fUN when the roads are narrow and laid across bog.If it's the Loyne near Invergarry , I fished it almost forty years ago at the old road bridge. How were the roads?

Stayed there for 3 nights two weeks ago, it does get busy on Sundays. We had a cycle ride up to La Isleta del Moro, up the coast from the site at Los Escullos this afternoon. Lovely village but hardly a soul in sight.
Passed this lovely wilding site on the outskirts of the village

There were a few doing the walk today. They were faster than us on the bikes. It was so windy we had to pedal downhill!!Stayed there for 3 nights two weeks ago, it does get busy on Sundays.
Nice walk to Escullos along the cliff footpath.
Haven't been along the "lochside " road for a number of years. Past the hotel you turned right , eventually you could see the sides of the road were collapsing , but you could get to the old bridge by car.You could see the continuation of the road at the other side of the bridge. I think the Tomdoun Hotel was bought by a private ownr who wanted to turn it back to a house. Had many a hangover there. Always stayed in the hotel for at least three nights , told our wives it was for fishing , we fished until mid afternoon , then attempted to drink the bar dry. Always caght fish , but the bar never dried up.Yes that's the place John. I bet that was beautiful down by the old road. That whole area is absolutely majestic.
