I pass this every morning while out with Laika the wonder dog but today I stopped and looked at it , the photo doesn't do it justice . It's a very calm space.
Borough Market opens today for the first time since the terrorist attack . The market is the other side of the wall to the left of the photo , to the right of the photo is Clink St and 30 seconds from here is Southwark Cathedral .

Oh...thank you! That explains what the strange creature I saw on Slapton Ley reserve was a couple of months ago. It was determined to try and move this stone on the footpath for a few minutes, then gave up and headed for the undergrowth.
