@DBK .....lost for words ...... But have seen plenty of dog vomit myself....:whatthe:

Sorry, had to put as big a space as possible between the 2 pics :LOL:

And while scrabbling around on the forest floor I took this picture of a puff ball - and this one does have name: the common earth ball (Scleroderma citrinum)

They look quite spectacular after they have exploded to release the spores.

Having decided to have a gym rest day I set off for a morning walk round the Bay. It is a calm, quiet and sunny morning perfect for a walk before coffee a cooking the Sunday roast.

You can see the calm waters and peaceful sky looking toward Penarth Head.

The guests at the St David's Hotel will have seen a lovely sunrise, I they were awake.

On such a lovely morning, remembering the date, I feel the need to pass some minutes in silent prayer at the 'Peace' statue.

Yes I remembered 9/11 all those lost souls and since.

Lovely photos you are very proud of your city and justifiably so.

Thank you Anthea.

I'm not sure that it is Cardiff that I'm so proud of, it's more pride in my community. I say this because a city is really just the bricks and mortar, it is the people that make the community and it is my community because I choose to make it so.

When I grew up in South London we never locked our front doors, people walked in and out each others houses, everyone shared what they had, a birthday would be a street party and as kids the street was our football and cricket pitch and bombed out houses our adventure parks and playgrounds.

Toerags and tea leaves were about but never active in the neighbourhood, the community was too close and tight for that!

In modern times it is supposed that this spirit has gone and some of it has but I still often forget to lock my front door. People will blame this loss on many things but personally I feel that the blame lies at our own feet as it us individuals that make a community! However a community needs its members to reach out and help each other, without deeply questioning the reasons.

Take Motorhomefun, so many members many who have never met each other and probably wont but we unreservedly help other members where we can.

Why do so many people find it hard to maintain this attitude when they are face to face with a real person in the greater world than just when they are at a keyboard. That does not read correctly in that I'm not accusing 'Fun' members of having an attitude.

So I am proud! Of my neighbours, of the different ethnic and religious groups in the closer community of 500+ apartments, many of whom are tenants and in short term transition, to walk around Cardiff Bay and see the colourful dress of the women of the Somali community, the aromas of the countless restaurants selling varied cuisines.

Cardiff Bay is the area of Cardiff previously known as Tiger Bay;

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_Bay

"...Tiger Bay had a reputation for being a tough and dangerous area. Merchant seamen arrived in Cardiff from all over the world, only staying for as long as it took to discharge and reload their ships. Consequently, the area became the Red-light district of Cardiff, and many murders and lesser crimes went unsolved and unpunished, the perpetrators' having sailed for other ports. However, locals who lived and stayed in the area describe a far friendlier place..."

Multiculturalism, Tiger Bay style involves little integration but plenty of friendship, understanding and respect of other people cultures. A life full of surprises, when my 88 year old mum had a dizzy spell while out walking, it was a Somali Muslim man who brought her home. A community isn't a 'given' thing, you need to both want it and work at it, it can be hard work and the less of you that start the job, the higher the percentage increase when a couple more join your efforts.

So Andrea, my pride is in the mixture of people around me, more than the bricks and mortar.

Thanks Ted but not just words, they are for the politicians.

It takes actions and willpower to get somewhere, remembering to greet everyone with a good morning or good afternoon. Do this everyday and in a short time you'll find people greeting you as you walk towards them. Then you know you've made the first of some small steps to a better community.

Been in Morriston Hospital since Tuesday. Katie has been in the High Dependency Unit here. Thankfully she has made good progress and will be able to move into a regular ward tomorrow. My pic of the day.

Near the entrance is this piece of art. I have a large spider in my Motorhome wing mirror. I bet you have too:)

Humm, think I may have seen him on the way home from work today. Was that somewhere in the Calder valley? The guy I saw had a very scary white face painted on the front of his helmet.

@DavidG58 What a gorgeous baby, and you know I am a specialist. You could think that having brought up about 70 babies I have no more emotion when seeing a new born.... Wrong, I melt just the same ......like the very first time I had my own baby against my skin!

Hi Katie ... keep strong my lovely .. when you close your eyes at night think of three lovely things that have happened that day ... no matter how small .. and look foward to the future .. remember what you told me? ? Hope.

Hugs xx

@Jim
