A depressing day

Are you sure that someone is not being presented with the van you ordered and you have their van ?
Driving down the road with the Mrs.... "Well it's not the MH we choose but I do like the spec much better than the one we ordered! Shall we take it back?...... nah...how many miles range do we have....!

I feel for you. We have been in the same situation. We went to collect our brand new chausson after a 6month delay. All going well until we noticed the drop down bed. We didnt order a drop down bed! We didnt want a drol down bed.

To be fair to lowdhams they didnt quibble when we rejected it. We were tempted to go with it, but it would have forever niggled us. We just got our money back and went elsewhere.

Fitted just as in the second photo, I never thought about the vents? After saying that the vents may well be wrong for what’s now fitted? The other problem is there is now pan draw under the fridge so it’s a foot lower to bend down to get things out and my wife has problems bending.
I’ve thought about another 12v fridge in the garage for longer journey.
Had a sleepless night last night thinking about it.

we will see what Tuesday brings

Honestly I’d steer clear of tec towers. We had issues in both our Niesmanns. We were back and forth to the dealers multiple times with each vehicle for the same issues over and over again… we never managed to get the faults rectified. I know we weren’t alone in experiencing issues.

The setup posted by funfair looks good. Can you get the dealership to provide you with a larger fridge freezer in your garage?

I am pretty sure that has the vents lower than would be needed for the TEC tower so even if the factory could do the inside stuff you might end up with an extra vent, pictures of Arto's show at least two different configuration for vents and it corresponds to to TEC tower or the smaller Fridge freezer.

Thanks again all it has to be our van, we had quite a few options and very specific option colours and decals, white van with orange and carbon fibre bits, looks nice.
I’m so sorry for your position,it must be devastating,it’s your choice what you do, but don’t take it just because it’s looks good, if it’s not what you ordered, are you going to be REALLY happy with it?,, Best of luck with your choice of what to to👍👍

It's all very well but does he really want to wait another year for a different fridge.
If I can't have something the next day I go somewhere that I can.

Just a choice, as I said.

Feel for you! Especially as I've experienced similar, albeit not with quite such a posh motorhome.

We had a nice van, which we traded in because I really needed an automatic gearbox due to a dodgy knee.

So the dealer sold our old van within a week of taking it, in October.

New van specced up with a good few factory extras, including the comfortmatic box - due to arrive March following year.

Delayed new van turns up in June... with a manual gearbox! Doh :(

Rejected it straight away. No chance of a replacement being delivered until the following year, and at an unspecified price...

In the end, we settled for another in-stock model (same brand) with an automatic gearbox and some financial compensation.

It really makes you wonder how these sort of c*ck-ups occur?

Hope you can find a reasonable outcome, though I can appreciate your difficulty and disappointment.

It was the 10 series fridge freezer and oven combo that sold the MORELO to Jen, if they had fitted something else she would have gone "ape'
We aren't as posh as you Martin  but we've always had a separate freezer in our vans. For us its important because I do cook quite a bit.

Good luck on Tuesday. I'll have everything crossed for you. I would stick it out to get what you've asked for. I also think there's a chance that there is another unhappy bunny somewhere who's got your van, not the one he wanted. Its worth investigating I think.

We've only got a compressor fridge in ours but it's got a big enough freezer for us. Why can't you just buy stuff every couple of days.?

Who wants to go shopping every couple of days? When I go away in my motorhome I set off with a well-stocked fridge, full water tank and full gas cylinders so I can escape the masses and live off-grid for as long as possible.

Most of our enjoyment of being away is to go around local shops and especially markets whenever we can.

Well sometimes we aren't near shops, and I'm not really one for shopping much. Maybe it's an insecurity of mine but I like to know I have enough choice of food in. Also I need ice cubes and I freeze lemons for my gin.

It’s all about choices,,we all have different ones, and so we should.👍
I know and respect that mate, but seriously don't see a problem , he's in the pound seats, all over the size of a fridge.

we too love doing the local shops, I find it helps the local community, and we always meet new people, and get the best advice on local stuff ie Pubs👍

Don’t know if you have a big garage… if you do what about a 12v fridge/freezer like the domestic/waeco ones. Other ones are available. Amazon have a wide variety of different ones. If this would work for you just make sure it will go to -20 degrees. Anything with ambient on it probably won’t be good enough as they with only go down to -20 of the weather temperature , Hope you get sorted.

As a few others have said we couldn't get along with the "overhead" oven. We took it out and put a microwave in its place after chef burnt her fingers and dropped the grill pan out of it and scratched the front of the fridge. Might be a lucky escape not to have one in your new van! Good luck :giggle:

I hate mine but have to use it on occasion

The OP knows what he wants, what he wants is what he ordered and what he is fully entitled to expect and receive.

Telling him he should live with a smaller fridge or adopt any of the other bodges, work rounds or changes to his touring routines is not really helpful.
