Hi everyone
We are currently parked at Shrewsbury after fitting in what seems like a week of things into 1 day.
The list includes

A meeting in Manchester
A site visit and measure in manchester
A pick up of wheel studs from a trailer company in Chester
A supermarket top up of silly things food wise which are sometimes difficult to find in continental Europe.
A filling at the dentist in Middlewich
A missed delivery of a new rim for a trailer
A conversation with rim supplier as the DHL app won't work
A conversation with farmer Jeff where I store some trailers, he's going to swap my tyre and fit the new rim (great relief)
2 pints of delicious Butty Bach beer In a local pub near to our sleepy spot
A well needed meal at Hickorys smokehouse
Waking up 2 hours ago thinking to myself I hope DHL find the farm/storage next time

Not too bad a start but it did seem as we deserved the beer and food last night, it should be a decent drive today to the camc site next to Folkestone.
We are looking forward to this trip as it seems we have been in the uk too long over this summer.
This was due to family time which is always nice and a bit of dental work that was overdue.
We decided to use the chunnel which does seem to have gotten quite pricy but when I gave Phil the options he insisted on tunnel even when I would have been happy with irish ferries.
Looking forward to a easy time in france with no set path just sticking to the east side as we are off to Dusseldorf salon to view electric bikes and other bits we need.
We may call into Luxembourg as its been over 5 years since we where last there and possibly the mosel region again, not sure we will see where the wind blows.

We are off to Trier further down the river to meet up with fellow funsters The Coops tommorow.
It's not as pretty stellplatz but the town is very pretty (if I remember correctly).
After that we may cross back into france, we have no idea.
They had a wine festival there last year, can’t remember exactly when but it was around this time. My word they don’t stint on how much they put in a glass.

We bought them from

Bicycle Bicycle XXL Franz GmbH
Fahrrad XXL Franz Mülheim-Kärlich

Yes I did just copy and paste the name 😃.

They where next door to decathlon and we only realised after driving past, they didn't come up on my Google search.
What a fabulous shop with an internal bike track so you can try before you buy.
We are on the local stellplatz at Urmitz perfect location right on the Rhine River although we don't have a river view it does the job.
We pick up our bikes tommorow at 3pm. We have already checked they fit in the garage as they allowed us to check with the shop floor bikes beforehand.View attachment 944863View attachment 944864View attachment 944865

Phils the linguistic I'm pretty terrible at German, mind I will never go hungry or thirsty.
However we met 2 couples from spain the other day and we managed to spanglish a good conversation over wine.
I think the wine helped 😁

We had another lovely night at the local village wine places last night, although I'm not sure about the burger stall.
He had lights that where lowered towards the food that seemed to cook it. Hmmm not sure.

We moved further down the Mosel to Triar.
After doing a couple of loads of laundry near to the university at Trier, we met up with the lovely The Coops on the local stellplatz
Walked into town for a mooch about and a liquid refreshment.
Back to the motorhome for a steak dinner and a good natter putting the world to rights.

I like trier, one of my favourite spots along moselle. Of course it helps I got stuck there for a week back in 2020 waiting on a covid test result that never did arrive. Gave me a chance to explore the town properly. Lots of old buildings..right up my street .

I've just been scalped, 1 haircut later €25 lighter.
However it was very good and he even did inside my ears with the black melting wax on a stick that gets hard and it takes all of the dodgy hairs out of your ears.
I declined the nose treatment 😄
I do feel refreshed.

A nice traditional lunch (schnitzel) with some craft beers, Helles for phil and Dunkel for me.
Coffee and cake back at the camper.
A nice sacher torte from a lovely artisan bakery shop.

What a great night. We drank too much wine though.
Rinse and repeat for tonight 😃.
We saw a dish last night that looked very nice for phil as he loves his mashed potatoes.
It was two balls of mash that looked like it was covered in a cheese/cream sauce with ham in it served with a bowl of apple sauce.

Lovely photos Gareth, and the food sounds very German.

The Bull in Ambridge are doing apple and cheese tart for the Flower and Produce Show. Apparently, people in the US love it! So cooked apple and cheese is clearly a ‘thing’!

I think we will travel down to Remich Luxembourg just over the border from Germany on the mosel river, apparently they have a local cremont (sparkling white wine).
We have not had cremont from Luxembourg before so hopefully it's good.
Really enjoying this trip, however it is getting very autumnal, hopefully moving down into france from Luxembourg may give us some better weather.

You were right about the Stellplatz. We got here about 1.30 as we decided to have a later lunch. Within 20 mins of arrival it was full. Parked next to a Liner, think we could be run over and not noticed.....We know our place! Any walked the SAFE route to the cycle store not much use as bike overload. Too much choice, got the information on a few and will have a better look when home and maybe pick up in the New Year trip. No haircut pictures? Safe travels and see you later may call in Dec to you know where!

A very functional aire, however I'm not fussed on the town.
Not much here and after walking up through the town to the vineyard we where disappointed as its appointment only and closed for the harvest even though it's says they where supposed to be open online.
No matter picked up a bottle of local cremont from the supermarket.
On the walk back we noticed an Indian and a Japanese restaurant so possibly may try one of those later.
As it was such a bust with the town we are off for a cycle along the river mosel.
The diesel and lpg is cheaper here.

We have just arrived in the French city of Nancy.
Staying right in the city at the only aire in the city right next to the canal. Unfortunately we are roadside not canal side but if it gets into walking distance for the city centre we are happy.

We stayed there some years back on Bastille day and were invited to a party with some of the boat owners. There was a bloke playing a squeeze-box and once he discovered we're from Liverpool he played a montage of Beatles tunes. As the alcohol flowed some of the partygoers decided it would be fun to get naked, we took that as our cue to leave ::bigsmile:

Last nights delicious curry house visit.
Lovely staff who spoke many languages, luckily one of them was English.

That meal looks lovely Gareth.

We were mystified at the languages we heard in Luxembourg - we overheard a customer trying to make himself understood in a supermarket, and after a linguistic tussle they both spoke English and understood each other perfectly

We also passed a driving school advertising lessons conducted in English and Portuguese!

Loving your trip.
