90 new Camping Car Park aires in 2022

There's no point in keeping credit on your card. Just top it up at the machine before you exit. We use CCP aires, along with other types of aire. We keep a credit balance of nil on the card.

With regard to the app, I just stay logged in. No need for passwords each time.
Amazing isn't it , the people who are pushing these things don't really know how to use them.

We have stayed on about 200 different free Aires over the last 20 years have looked at CCP sites and decided for a couple of euros extra can stay on an ACSI site with a swimming pool so why would anyone want to use CCP?
For us; generally locations are more convenient, quite often better views, no check-in/out, prefer sea to pool.

Each to their own but, after a gap because we werent using it we bought another Acsi card this January and havent felt even slightly tempted to use it yet.

I wouldn't mind them if they charged €5 or €6 and then another €5 or €6 if you want EHU & WiFi. But I've yet to find a decent one.
wouldn't be why CAMC costs are what they are ;)

No problem with Camping Car Parks, we have used and enjoyed them for years when there’s one that’s where we want to be. But I’ve just discovered that CCP has taken over one of our favourite spots at Lac Du Der where we would stay 3-4 nights. So instead of 6€ it’s now €14 per night. In fact they have taken over all 3 parking areas in the area. We were last there in June and as we left all 3 areas were closing for a while. Obviously we now know this was for the conversion work to take place. We will still go but it’s going to more than double the cost.

You will all find out. Probably when I have gone, but soon you will find parking in villages banned just to push you on to these places, next thing then price will rocket to anything they like as you won't have no choice.
I confess I have used these things mainly because I had no choice, and as long as they are still around a tenner ,if Wego again will probably use them again.
But for me the future of these things will not make any difference but just wait a couple of years and see what happens then.

I was just looking for an aire we stayed at some time ago. (Still havent found it) so I went on to S4S to see if I left a review.

Looked up all my reviews and they give me a map and on the map it shows me all the CCPs I have stayed at.

I was astounded to see I have stayed at so many. I have left 246 reviews. It seems that S4S have changed the icon to CCP even though I stayed there prior to it being a CCP.

So 10 years of my reviews and these are the ones that have changed

Luxeil les Bains from previously paying
Savines les lacs from paying previously
Maulecene from paying 3 euros previously (10 years ago and we suspect it wasnt supposed to be paying but an intuitive entrepreneur kid)
St Croix de Verdon from paying previously
MIllau from paying previously
Souillac Previously free.

From that information it would seem they arent taking over many free aires and making them paying, just making paying aires more expensive and nicer with more facilities

So our favourite Aire at Sainte Croix de Version has been taken over by CCP.

I'm with chaser on this! I'm sure it will always be busy, and yes, I guess you'll be able to book it in advance, but half the fun of campervan life in France for us has always been the ability to turn up on a whim and take your chances. Slippery slope to only being able to access 'proper'campsites imo.

Mate, it's snowballing, ten years ago they probably only had two, but double it every year and see where it gets you.

From their website their expansion rate below, they are expanding but they appear to have last doubled in a 7 year period. They may get between 40 and 90 each year, but these appear to be already paying aires in the vast majority. A business is not going to take over a free aire, pump money into it and then expect the French, in the main, to pay to stay at a previous free aire. They are targeting high touristic areas and charging a few euros extra. Good luck to them, but concerning for me ? No.
I have no doubts in 2012-2016 they would have contacted a multitude of municipals with a plan to take over, not many took that up, but more are now, but if only 6/246 that I have visited (and reviewed) over 10 years its not that impactive on me.

We shall have a beer over this in 5-10 years (at a free aire ;) or Gravelines)

Year/total/How many extra

2012 6 2
2013 8 6
2014 31 25

2019 154 40
2020 200 46

I posted earlier they do not set the prices but the landowners do.

I've been following many of your reviews, some you didn't stay but we did and found it OK. One that's now a CCP sainted croix du Verdon did have 25 places now a CCP with only 13 so must have been sardines before.

That one was.

Some of my reviews are somewhat left field.

Easily the worst aire in france. Possible to stay overnight. Local sellers have most things for sale at night including herion and cocaine. Several people looking to buy. Didnt feel safe to even open roof. No sleep at all. Wonderful view of the river just beyond the local drunks.

If you love prisons, particularly the ones with high fences and barbed wire on the top which is run by vest wearing imitators of the non paid up members of the camping club then this is your place. You will not find me back here

We got here and all i can say is the moment we turned up we were marked. All eyes looked upon us with english van that just went directly into the centre of a travellers camp. We parked next to the water fill up which wasnt working and by the time we had done that we must have had 4 kids aged 8-10 like vultures on new prey eyeing the van up and down seeing if our tyres would fit their van. We ran, we ran like the wind, we didnt look behind us, and never ever again. nice view of flamingoes on the way in though

Good to go shopping for an hour but no more for fear of the thousands of pigeons with chronic gut ache living in the trees under which you park your van. Seriously bad place to park a beloved motorhome

What a stunning town. Beats Carcasonne hands down as no camera wielding ignorant non paying attention tourists going into meaningless shops and bumping into you for overinflated priced gunk. The aire is roadside and basic but actually surprisingly Q. The town centre is very very good

This says daytime parking only. Not from the experience we had. 3 euros collected early evening with free use of water and dump. flat area and a must for any keen masochistic cyclists with mt ventoux . town is full of cycle shops. One pushbike was 12K ! Thats what i sold my motorhome for ! Also not too sure if it was paying or just some entrepreneurial kid who just bought a receipt book and goes round at night collecting 3 euros off 30 vans.

Stayed here again. Still no facilities but directions to service point nearby. Safe cycle to Carpentras where 15 Kms of new disused railway line. Best to park with overhang over kerb but this allows the automated sprinkler system to saturate your van at about 0130 hrs. Moving forward overnight resolves issue of loud pressured water hitting van and resultant spray coming through open vents. Good way to meet French neighbours in nightgowns

Sat nav took us the wrong way aswell but the signs with motorhomes and arrows are a good indicator. Not as steep imo as suggested. No issues in a 7 metre with overhang. Sun goes down early because of hill and trees. Absolute peace and tranquility. Now has a barrier with cc. 4.50 a night and need to work out how long to stay upon entry. Municipal policce still come round especially when the nosey neighbour rings up about harmless kids on a motorbike. Crime must be low round. Surreys not like that

The location is about right but it is an open top raised car park with paying 5 euros overnight and i think it was a euro an hour. Plus the cost of 10 euros each to see the waterfalls. Cascades du herrison are 40 miles away and free. Guess what i did. Would not come back here but if waterfalls are your thing and you have more money than me then its probably good

As per previous the tourist tax for this one is 15 euros and you don't really get a choice. Beware you need to pay for parking Neuschenstein and to be brutally frank 10+ euros to be herded round 6 rooms whilst you wait for an hour queueing up isn't very good value for money. Fantastic photos from the outside for free. Wouldn't bother going in.

Lovely place alongside an unbelievably Q road. Nice village BUT they close the road off through the town 0800 to 1700 from memory forcing you to go out Eastwards or over the narrow bridge with a 3.5 tonne weight limit. Dimensions of Rollerteam 690 did make it over the bridge and I made the wife get out so we were under 3.5 tonne ! Fill up and drop off water at the other aire which isn't a sniff on this one

Didnt stay overnight, i really dont know why. Lets ask the wife. Oh she still hasnt given me an answer.IMHO it was a lovely spot 100 yards from the river/canal to ride into Basle. Kind of weird going through customs then realising you dont have your passport to get back.

Truely uninspiring aire, however it is quiet and plenty of space and is next to a park and free

Long termers are still there. Ancient caravan and a dumpy old wreck of a motorhome with a couple of dogs attached to a piece of string. I m sure you get the message here, however great place to go and take a look especially place napolean

Dead quiet here, next to a graveyard. cemeteries always have water but you cant put a hosepipe onto this one. We were here one year and they had a great village party with mass eating facilities. Couple of lovely domaines nearby and backs on the river but didnt go swimming here

This was a lovely little spot with 12th or 13th century abbey and they had a most fantastic fete on with marquees and horses in a medieval style then the worst thunderstorm i have ever been involved in came down the seine and marquees were literally flying over our motorhomes. Trees uprooted and people trying to gra the animals. Absolute devastation. We could see the course of the typhoon the next day where 50 metres wide of wood was missing in different places along the road. We thought we were going to be rolled over. Anyway aprt from that it was nice

Truely awful stopping place. the mix of cars and local youths didnt make you feel safe at all. we stayed but only because we were knackered. the water place wasnt fit to use for cows. Avoid like the plague

Parked here overnight a couple of times. Lovely lake, shame about the rats but they are harmless, just a bit more confident than the average rat and only in the corner near the exit of the water so nowhere near the beach which is lifeguarded and certainly would nt put us off going there (i m a celebrity fan) ! Great views of Mont ventoux and there is a rope climbing course there. No problem staying overnight here

Confirmed April 2016 height barrier in operation. Go further up the road past the rather unhelpful tourist information, make sure you pop in to complain and then you can park along the road on the left hand side opposite the summer luge.

Believe it or not we stayed on 2 of them in 2012, didn't really understand what they were, and got in before realising, being used to free Aires I thought who the hell is going to stay on these things.

On a three week trip this year we stayed on three CCPs

Chateudun, used to be a municipal site, not much has changed, but no showers or toilets were available. 2 nights

Royan, in centre of town, easy walk to shops or beach. 7 nights

IMG_1405.jpeg

St Vincent-sur-Jard, Vendeed, lovely aire beside the beach, about a mile from shops.. great cycling area .. 5 nights

(no photo)

We enjoyed staying on them, good sized marked pitches, all with a 6A EHU and water included in the price.. at €14, I thought them good value for money..

Royan was in dire need of a CCP

This was the Royan review I gave before CCP : Long termers are still there. Ancient caravan and a dumpy old wreck of a motorhome with a couple of dogs attached to a piece of string. I m sure you get the message here, however great place to go and take a look especially place napolean

Where was this one please..😎

I like CCP but not their site in Millau - too many spaces in a small area. More suited for campervans than motorhomes. Won't be using that one again.

Caen CCP 10/10.

Reading this entire thread it's just dawned on me that there's loads more to this brilliant forum than just discussions about a multitude of topics. Is there an easy guide on how to navigate the journals people are entering/submitting?

I've already spent god knows how many hours at work reading stuff that just wasn't a part of my life a month ago. Now I can see that there are many more hours to waste reading about towns and villages I may or may never visit!!

If I were reading the journals with no particular interest in location I would hit the hamburger top left, then hit journals then hit the drop down until seeing "Journal List" then work my way through each of them in a chronological order.

I will have another one starting on Sunday "West Coast of France"

If looking at an area I would hit the continental tour section then hit view whole map (takes some finding) then look at where I was headed and use the link from the map to read the journal
