The French aires company CampingCarPark have reported a successful 2022. The company increased their number of aires by a total of 90 leading to a total of 2.5 million overnight stays at their aires in 2022, an increase of 40% over 2021 figures. These increased occupation figures resulted in a 50% increase in turnover of €15 million, CCP also reported that 116,000 new followers joined their network in 2022.
Although Covid has played a part in the stats, 90 new aires speaks for itself.

Really don't mind the charge for CCPs as you are getting a secure gated area and facilities that work and the option to book - so many times we have turned up at Aires full of long term stayers and locals storing their vans

I wouldn't mind them if they charged €5 or €6 and then another €5 or €6 if you want EHU & WiFi. But I've yet to find a decent one.
You well know my feelings on these things and what I have said before it's snowballing now, and I totally agree with you on the concept.
But having used a few last year, I have to slightly disagree with you on the conditions, the ones we used were mostly clean and tidy and a lot of them even have showers and things and can be used by anyone, caravan, tent or even a car.
But the most important thing is that these places aren't going to stop at a tenner, we have seen on another thread it can cost that much in electric, so once they have a monopoly on Aires ,which you disagree with me that they will have, believe me you are going to see campsite prices.
Won't affect me now but for all the newcomers it's going to be the norm now and another lot of old time things will be gone for ever.

The majority won't be "new" Aires but ones they have taken charge of and then make a charge to stay on them.
Many would have been free previously and run by local communities.
Some of them are former camping municipals as well. Good use for them and makes it possible to stay year round rather than the typically short French season.

Its location that matters to us, and not having to queue up with passports.

Where do you have to queue with passports?

so once they have a monopoly on Aires
Camping Car Park operate just over 400 aires and Aire Park Reservation operate over 1,500 aires
So CCP have a long way to go to get a monopoly.
We've used both and have no problem with either. Good standard, well maintained provision. Not a description you can use for some Municipal aires I've also used.
What surprises me is that our Gallic neighbours are obviously gritting their teeth and actually paying for these commercial aires. 🤣🤣

So that's 2000 between them, if they keep multiplying like they have this last couple of years ,it won't be long before they have the majority and even the concept isn't going to be lost by the people and villages who run their own, they will see a nice little earner that they can't miss out on.

Each to his own, but you seem to have exceptionally high standards when it comes to Aires.. we’ve used them a lot for several years and always found them good value for money.
I also wonder how members on here would react if their local authority used ratepayers money to provide subsidised facilities for foreign campers.
I like something for nothing as much as the next person, but I don’t consider it my right. Finally for those who object to their overnight fee including EHU , I have the perfect soLutron, don’t stay there.

It's the financial pressure on the local Mayors by Macron's government that's driving the change. Exactly the same as our sports and leisure centres that are predominantly now managed by commercial contractors.
If I were in the Marie and received an offer to upgrade and manage my aire plus (maybe) pay me an annual rent, I'd take it.

Haven’t come across them before. Do you know if they have English language website or app? Tried through Crome which is normally good at translating sites but it only works on their home page and my French is not good enough to read and understand.

Sussed the translation in Safari on iPad.

Click the AA to the left of the address bar and you get the option to translate to English. Saved from having to consider android 😀

I've had reason to phone them - they were happy to converse in English, and the gate machines have English as a choice.
You can get a card from the machine when you first visit, but then to be able to book in advance you need to buy one of their packages, and regsister for an account that is then linked to your card.

I think that you should be able to read the site entries in English if you set google translate in Chrome to "always translate French "
Tap on any "P" icon and you should get the list of aires in that location. Example.

Thanks Kups , only worked for some pages in Chrome but now I’ve found out how to get Safari to translate i find it better than Chrome.
