2018 anniversary trip 200 / 100 max miles per day for 22 days

we have arrived at a lovely little spot in the middle of nowhere a few miles south of Bergerac, off to see the vineyard owner at 6 for a wine tasting :)(y)

the journey here was a classic battle between Bev and Mrs TT, TT started off on a more or less identical route to Bev, after lunch stop, which coincidentally was an identical supermarket to last year, Bev didn't spot a turn she planned to take and I followed TT, what followed was like something out of Fawlty Towers

You possibly all recall how annoying Sat nags are when you deviate from their routes, well this time I had Bev nagging me to take a left, in next town, at the next roundabout etc, typically virtually the opposite of the TT instruction, until eventually I did as Bev said, then it all reversed with TT trying to turn me down every possible turn, even random gaps in the hedge it seemed at times

The trouble is though what we ended up doing was classic TT, Bev didn't reroute she wanted me back her planned route, so I had to watch while TT added over 30 minutes and many miles to the route, but we did end up in the original destination, although at the very end I did allow TT to over rule Bev, but this time TT was wrong, we ended up on very narrow lanes, although TBH everything around here is pretty narrow, but all very accommodating

As was the host of the site, no fees at all, full facilities although we were not offered electrics, but we have been parked on their drive due to soft ground, we were given a sample of every wine they sell :):):):):):):):) which then convinced me to part with more than I did at the last wine tasting we went to. As they say there is no such thing as a free lunch, but we needed to stock up well now P + A have met with D + J :LOL:

I might have taken a turn in my drinking life (your turn will come Chris (y)(y)(y)) loved the white wine, mainly towards the dessert wine taste , so we now have 18 bottles of home made wine :LOL: and todays budget was once again busted, €135 o_O a really cheap night stop over :)

Also put in another €70 euro in fuel and Bev shopped again o_O just as well we found the extra €'s in the glove box (y)(y)

Need to plan a route now that bumps into @Scout need to see where they made it to tonight :)

Curry in a bit, G + T's poured and first consumed

Its the weekend after all :):)

A couple of updates on today while I wait to see how we have to go to intercept P + A tomorrow

Saw a few of these churches today with odd towers and open bells

Also made a technical break through, we had good TV through our sat dome until Grenoble where oddly the dish locked on but no signal, tried a retune no difference, today back at similar latitude tried again, still no signal so tried swapping from Astra N to Astra S bingo full excellent quality picture, wonder now if we could have TV much further south

Internet update, 17 days in first 12Gb data card is used up, but our mobiles have both used less than 1GB each, new card in iPad and one in Mifi which we really struggle to connect to

Right now I am really pleased we have Tv at each end Rugby for me, Bev can pick at other end :)(y) I even took the option to watch different channels at same time :)

Edit today we covered 140 miles, the more I do the less I like it, todayvwas ample

Cavignac N10 ?

come on keep up at the back, I had you as so much sharper, what with the lottery cards and all that

we are already north of there, (Bergerac) although heading back south is tempting my mother has to be repossessed from the BUPA money pit next Wednesday (y) we need to keep heading roughly homewards :)

this is looking favourite, we should be there before you if we don't drink too much wine tonight (y)

Stayed here a couple of years back. A little road noise but not too much. School buses park across the road and start early. Nice boulangerie close by. Pleasant walk around a small lake.

Hi David enjoying following your tour,
The vine yard you stayed at outside Bergerac, we stayed there last year, the owner a nice chap and very accommodating, the wine tasting was good too, we ended up with 6 cases.

Drove down the N10 back in December. What a boring road.
Good dual carriageway but 80kph speed limit and no overtaking for +3.5 tonnes for the whole way.
If you want to keep legal you just have to stay in a convoy of trucks for mile after mile.
Just try and keep awake.

Richard.

I totally agree, but it is free and we are heading north (home) so cash poor and just need to cover miles :)(y)

On the weight front, we have noticed far more weight limits of 3.5T on town and smaller country roads, some have a lorry symbol so we then reckon they mean lorries only, but an awful lot just quote the weight

80 kph for all as from July:D Means I won't have them climbing all over me.

80kph will be boring enough on those long straight country roads but the N10 is almost motorway standard. Get in a long convoy of trucks that you can't pass (legally) and you are soon yawning. I really can't understand why the limits were introduced.
What effect the general 80kph limit will have on truck drivers remains to be seen. I expect to still have them breathing down my law abiding (mostly ;))neck.

Richard.
