2018 anniversary trip 200 / 100 max miles per day for 22 days

Last night in France for us tonight, night 21 :)(y) La Mailleraye for us lovely spot and even with a barrier at 5.5 Euro hardly a rip off although stil charging water is a pain as you need a token

We usually park at the end of the wall in one of the three places taken up by this French MH

But he went soon after so we have moved and actually braved pitch 14 on the grass but more or less all hard standing (y) too cold here to rain and no obvious effects of recent floods so we should be OK

Vets just done 30.40 Euro as we didn’t bring our own worming tablet 15 Euro if we brought our own

For anybody who has not been here this is what you get for your fee

Plus free dump, water needs a token from boulangerie, never yet bought a jeton will not be starting now

Will do a final days drive tomorrow and report in from P & R in Canterbury then finalise accounts when home on Wednesday but we still have some cash so have come in under budget and today at 165 miles was about the furthest we have driven apart from home to Folkestone so all to plan there as well :)(y)

Sorry to hear about the rain o_O but at least the temperature is better (y) think we only had one day where temp got to double figures, it’s -1C here at midday despite the sunshine

Back in Blighty decided to try the much acclaimed P & R at Canterbury, set sat nag before left France and noticed it took us along the B road discussed a few months ago on here and declared good to use

Well let me tell you all Bev disagrees totally and I would only do it again in daylight

As soon as you leave the M20 it narrows round a couple of tight bends then climbs through trees on a narrow lane

In fairness there is no width or weight restriction and it could be the snow falling at the time and the dark end of twilight and the temp display showing -4C outside and the lying snow and twinkling ice, but I wasn’t impressed with running mirror through hedges for a lot of the route praying not hit anything too thick

It might also be worse doing it from tunnel to Canterbury but we will look for the long way round next time

Although TBH part of the attraction was the pub which has been a major disappointment, maybe we should have had the extra night in France after all

But while I have your attention what do we do to get out? Found a pay machine in car park do we just pay as we go or can we pay now ready for the morning to save walking out in the snow storm that’s forecast o_O

I think Bev may travel home in bed with her head under the pillows

Night night sleep tight give lola an extra blanket.

Ps still raining here , but at least its plus 2.

David, I think you need to pay as you go out. Haven’t stayed there since they changed it from 24hrs to so much per day, so an overnight stop counts as two days (@ £3 each.?).
Thanks for a great travel blog - have been following it throughout, great photos. Have a safe journey home.
David.

Just off tunnel I decided to put fuel in due to weather forecast also chose to refill lpg, glad we did, only swapped cylinders on Saturday but it has been cold and I am really lazy leaving Alde on all the time which means we have permanent hot water plus heat set at 15C overnight which has run nearly constantly since we set off

So if my maths are right 13kg cylinders hold 22 litres of gas, put in 36 litres today so was a lot closer to empty than I had managed to convince Bev we were. Given the amount of snow still falling and the -2C outside we will use a good bit more tonight

If you arrived after 4pm then it is only £1 until midnight then another £3 for tomorrow. If you arrived before 4pm then it would be £3 for today & same for tomorrow.= £6
Who on earth told you the pub was any good ? Even i've never heard a good word for it.
If you want a good walk for Lola -Then opposite where bus exits there is a gap in the hedge which take you into the bridle way/ public footpath. Turn left & you can go right through the trees ,past the overspill MH parking & into & across the field. Mind you if snow is laying then you might not see the footpath in the field.

Oh yes & pay as you leave. Or anytime after midnight if you are definitely going tomorrow

Welcome home David Bev snd Lola ! Thank you for sharing your blog , mileage costs etc are very useful Thankyou!
Snow is worse down south than up here! First time ever!

I am sure I came across that bridge one dark night 3/4 year ago just breathed in chucked full beam on and preyed

I too have enjoyed your travels David & Bev, do hope it’s warmer for you when you go over next time.
I stayed at La Mailleraye-sur-Seine last year on the way back to Cite Europe for the night before going back via Tunnel.

You maybe need to fill up gas more regularly to keep Bev calm and relaxed.

Look forward to photos of your next trip.

Veronica
