Weather update Tagazoute

At present it is overcast but dry with a bit of a breeze. Rain not due until 1600 and amount down to 18mm through the nigh until 0600. Starts again on Sunday with 5.9mm. Better on Monday with only 0.6mm rain and 35% cloud. Tuesday no rain, some cloud and 19 degrees.

Today I shall seek solace in drink.

Re bar on the boat

If its as slow as last year you all aint getting a drink lol

Good luck beginning to wish I had come over now gerrrrrrrrrrrrr

Parked up after 230miles and dinner, just ready to pull back on road and we have a convoy, the advance scout party have caught us up so we are back on the road to Marrekesh wagons roll.

Police Checks etc

I've just noticed a few posts about police checks etc. Our experience is that it's all fairly straightforward, but....

1. Make sure you have enough Fiches if you are going south. We weren't asked for one north of Sidi Ifni but got through a dozen in a week once we were south of there and had to get more copied.

2. Watch out for the radar traps, they have state of the art kit. I got caught through inattention - 68km/h in a 60 just before the 80 sign on my way OUT of a small town on a main road (300Dh complete with receipt signed by both officers). .........and just to add insult to injury I was warned about the radar traps by another funster who has also parted with cash to the gendarmerie in the the few weeks before - and I was still stupid enough to get nabbed.:Blush:

3. Oh and if you get caught for an 'infraction' it pays to have your documents organised and to hand. They will want to carefully inspect your passport(s), driving licence, insurance cert, green card, carte Gris (registration document), temporary import papers etc etc and then they are required to fill out a form in longhand and generally spend a lot of time with you making you wish ( in the nicest possible way) that you could either converse in French or Arabic or remember to watch your speed..............

Have Fun ( and don't get caught !!! ).

The drones seem to be thinning out now - 7 vans nicely pitched up at Ocean Blue, others peeled off and gone elsewhere.

Just got nicely settled and the heavens opened and its hoying it down and blowing a hooligan again. Lots of ships anchored off the coast getting blown about like corks.

Hope Malcoms forecast comes good very soon as this weather is naff to say the least

Just bought a kilo bag of sweet satsumas off an elderly guy with a donkey cart - 5 dirams - very nice indeed. Bet the poor old bugger got soaked in the downpour.

Ocean Bleu

Now I know it's working quick update, hope Andrew & Steve found our message  and the weather is brighting up now.

Thanks Carol found you message. Enjoy Marrakesh.

We are now parked up at Ocean Blue, the waves look amazing - started chucking down so sitting watching BBC1 and eating a pizza with tomato and onion salad. Mmmmm.

See you later.

Taghazout today.

Thought the forecasters had got it well wrong when the cloud evaporated and we got the chance to sit out in lovely sunshine - but no, at 1620 the sun has all gone behind thick cloud :Sad: and it has just started chucking it down.:cry:

Other photo shows our near neighbours. German folk, who on receipt of my confirmation that I was indeed English, made the comment - 'Oh well better than French'. I am saying nowt.:RollEyes:

Why do my pictures end up in reverse order :Eeek:

It's the King's fault !!

read elsewhere..... ,!

"At the request of King Mohammed VI, upon learning that Morocco may suffer a continued drought this year, prayers for rain were held at synagogues.....…yes, synagogues…...... throughout Morocco a week or so ago. The prayers were recited after Muslims said similar prayers in mosques, also at the request of the King. "

Ouarzazate

Arrived at Ouarzazate mid afternoon after some particularly spectacular views sometimes resembling the Nevada desert of the US. There were snow capped mountains as a backdrop. It was mostly a sunny drive after reaching the higher areas - maybe a handful of vans in total on route.

Ouarzazate on the other hand is pretty void of anything interesting at all just great views in all directions from it!

It will be just one stop here tonight before the highest section over the mountains to Marrakech.

The split off group of dazzlin, dai boy and mar john are all settled in to camping international at el jadida. Sounds like we are parked next to the mosque. Tea on, wine open and try to ignore the rain and chanting.

Btw, don't talk about the war, too loudly. Sounds like fun where you are.

Sing along with the Muezzin - all together now "Allah Akbar , Allah Akbar" that way you will cancel him out. It's the 5am call to prayer that's a bit of a ballache. :Rofl1::Rofl1::Rofl1:

OK Guys help me out here.

I reckon there are three groups.

One probably large group including some who travelled later, at Mohammedia another at El-Jadida and a third who have hopefully by now arrived at Marrakech. Is that right or are there more?

We have the names of those at El-Jadida but I don't think we know all in each of the other two. Come on lets be knowing. My brain hurts.

Ok. Wine now drunk. Thats when they say don't go on the 'web.
About 8-10 should be at ocean bleau(sp) and by my reckoning 3-4 at marakesh but not sure of who. We abandoned them about 1.00pm today.

We too have arrived at Taghazout plage this afternoon, just in time for the storm. We are near the entrance and the water flowing under the van reached the bottom of the door. The noise of the rain and the hailstones meant we had to shout to hear each other in the van.

That said we were lucky. One of our group drove into Taghazout to get some medication from the pharmacy. Got stuck there for over an hour due to 2 landslips in town and a flood torrent running through. Digger and police were called, a traffic jam both sides of town, buses turning round at the campsite entrance and back to Agadir and dropping the passengers to walk into town. Ambulance passed, then a fire engine which promptly hit two cars on the way in from Agadir. There is a car pushed off road by the torrent/slide and was 8ft down off the road at 18.00. The police called in some heavy equipment about 19.45 and closed the road at the beach entrance shortly after to traffic from Agadir. A bit of a lightning/thunderstorm later. The road re-opened about 22.00 and appears to be running normally. Couple of artics have come through from the north, so clearly passable for motorhomes.

More rain, but less than today, forecast for Saturday and Sunday am, otherwise fine and dry.

Anyone thinking of trying to get into Camping International at Agadir, you'll be lucky. It's heaving. Looked in this afternoon. The French have had Christmas and New Year and are heading south in droves.

The sun will shine again.

It's rained on and off all night here at Ocean Blue and it's hammering down as I type. There are huge puddles across from us under French vans, haven't been out with the dog yet but I reckon the lowest part of the site will be a quagmire. Mon dieu mes amis, mon dieu. :Eeek:

The electrickery at Ocean Bleu (no earth) has been on and off all night like a whores drawers

Malcolm, just to ease your aching head........
There are five vans here at Fair Douze in Marrakech. Ourselves, Kiwi, Andes, Carol (and Eddie of course) , plus Steve and Sue. We got a reduction on the rate from dh75 to dh65 per night. All hard standing and facilities reasonable. Certainly better than Ocean Bleu.
Four vans set off from Mohamedia at 10:30 and we had a very dull drive down the motorway. Stopped for diesel and found Eddie wandering around like a lost soul so he and Carol joined our convoy.
It peed down last night as it appears to have done all down the Moroccan Coast.
Haven't had our daily planning meeting yet so can't say what we are doing today. Having read the posts about weather at Tagazoute I think it might be better to deLay departure until tomorrow when hopefully things have dried out a bit.
I don't know what Tonkas group are planning for tonight.
See you soon.

Thanks for that SilverF1. We're parked somewhere near you and wondered what was going on last night........ But oddly I didn't fancy venturing out to see!!!

El Jadida

Dazzlin, Marjohn and I headed straight for El Jadid. It was about 280 miles in atrocious conditions very heavy rain and windy too. An awful night last night weather wise but we had a good session in John and Mary's van. This morning the weather seems much improved with the odd very light shower and lots of blue sky. We're staying here another day before heading South.

Accurate coordinates for El Jadida: N 33*14.405 W8*29.262 will take you to the door. If you use the coordinates previously posted it will take you to a builders yard on the Main Street, just drive about 200 m and turn right, the site is about 200 m on the right in amongst the trees.

The backend group...
MrMotorhome, TerryL, Arnica, Champers, Canopus, Portland, Ricec and ourselves. Are staying put here at Ocan Bleu, Mohammedia. Stopped raining but site very wet and several pitches flooded. I have had to move to a hard standing, luckily vacated by a froggie this morning..

All the greedy buggers beat me to the bread.

Todays plan is to head for Marrakech tomorrow, maybe 2 nights at the parking by the Mosque.. BUT. the plan can always change..

Ocean Blue

Looks like the "Tagazhout Beach Party" we were hoping to organise will have to be postponed until February due to adverse weather conditions.

Not to be put off by the weather today, we are now hoping for a wet wellies get together at Ocean Blue today! :Rofl1:

I can see blue skies and the sun popped out briefly! Great walk to the right of the campsite, if you do not fancy the walk you will see some steps to the top of the office roof - great views / photo opportunity. Restaurant open tonight.

Because they aaaaarrrrrrrrrgh!

had a good session in John and Mary's van

Hope you guys didn't catch the lurgy off John & Margaret like what we did doh.

Lynda is still coughing and spluttering:shout:

Backend Group does sound a little trite. I vote that we should be renamed Tonkas Troupe and suggest we all have a get together in the restaurant at 13:00 hours to discuss what possibilities are open to us.

i.e. Lots of French went off in a 42 seater to visit Casablanca - 'of all the bars in all of the world etc'
Humphrey Gocart lol
