With the ignorant bloke gone first thing we moved into a more appropriate parking spot this morning before embarking on the 31 Kms to Dieppe.
Picked up some literature from the TO which contained good local walks and cycle routes for potential of another day here or at least a cycle.
Got down to the voie verte by the chateau which is now a school (cooking we think) and it was school photo day.
First up we spotted one of those small in height bikes towing an appropriate sized caravan for the bike and over his head he had a solar panel as a canopy. Unfortunately going in other direction but brilliant.
What we noticed was how many beautifully kept houses we could see as many villages/hamlets were passed and a railway station every 3 to 4 Kms which was done up in some way. However prize of the day/week/month goes to the village of St Aubin le Cauf.
Immaculately set out and lawned, were 3 stand alone wooden picnic tables with canopy one of which was designed to allow a wheelchair user to sit at the table. On top of water and electric points there was a bike cleaning gadget operated by a Jetons to allow the pressure washer to clean your bike whilst you stood it in the groove of the drive through grey waste. Absolutely brilliant.
We continued past to go alongside the meandering river to some fishing lakes which were well set up for picnics and flat smooth paths all round them from what we could work out. You could easily do worst than this little stretch of the voie verte. Parking for day visitors at stations and just walk this bit. Really nice.
Into Dieppe following an actual railway line (disused we strongly suspect) and then Dieppe with it's lovely front and views but 4.60 for a beer at the harbour forced us into the PMU near the cathedral which visually was a turn off with pigeon netting inside.
Noted on the return was a ed telephone box which we don't think we have seen before.
We have just had our evening stroll round the village and it is a "right up there" village.
15 local walks on their own individual pamphlets all marked up en route with postage stamp signs
4 star flowery village.
Pizza vending machine 100 yards from aire.
Chateau.
Top class crystal clear lavoir in really good nick.
3 different cycle routes (2 ways on voie verte and a circular voie verte)
Shop that appears to do everything.
The jardin du gare also doubles up as free camping overnight for cyclists.
The Aire is free, the dumps are functional but the water is a trickle at best (all free)
The Aire is just loose gravel car park and some may not appreciate it
WE DO.
