We were well on our way back now. We booked a crossing for the 1st of July so still had a couple of weeks. We decided on Eberbach which means boar creek and there are plenty of boars scattered around the town. Indeed there are lots of sculptures here in a very small space. It's situated on the Necker river and is near the start of the castle route.
There is a small Stellplatz near the bridge, right on the river and two more close by but we stayed at the Campsite on the opposite side to get some shade.
Site is okay and you can get a pitch right on the river but not on the ACSI. As I said we wanted shade by now as it was in the late 20s early 30s. Like a lot of sites in Germany they charge for dogs (Bamberg and Rothenburg had). Where they do charge, you get a goody bag with a few chews and a few poop bags.
The castle at Eberbach is at the top of a hill and it was too hot for us to walk up, its only a ruin anyway, but we went into the town.
The town is mostly pedestrianised with timber framed buildings and part of an old town wall.
Its a nice small town worthy of a night and as part of a bigger tour like the castle route. I do like a river and like following them. Looking at the places on the Necker it could be a future path for us.
We stayed at https://www.campingpark-eberbach.de/ €23 ACSI
