Has this ever happened to anyone whilst doin the nc500

Were they able to pass if they wanted to? It wasnt a single track and you were holding them back ?

Travelling from thurso to Kyle of tongue. Tailgate by an unmarked saloon for about 25miles. Stressing I pulled in a layby. They overtook me passenger put a camera out an took a picture?? As far as I'm aware not doin anything wrong
You will be appearing in an anti tourist magazine as a motorhome that didn't allow a local to overtake you for 25 miles whilst you were driving at 20mph enjoying the view and not pulling into a passing place to let him pass.

No I gave him ample times to pass me!. Everytime I slowed him backed off?

And I wasn't doing 20 miles unless it needed it!
But there must have been lots of places you could have pulled in?
We tend to pull over on narrow roads if we get 2 or 3 cars behind as they are usually locals going about thier business and not sight seeing.

I followed one a few weeks ago in the Lake District , we were on the Motorbikes, as I said to my son it’s not surprising that so many people hate Motorhomes .

What an over reaction to one incident, a bit like saying “ Someone followed my car, blasted their horn, waited whilst I stopped then got out and argued with me”
That happens all the time in the UK, plus a lot worse with road rage, assaults, even road rage murders, but we then don’t say “ No wonder car drivers are hated”

We were behind a car driver only yesterday Caz said “ Look here they’re doing less that 30 in a 60 zone no wonder there’s a queue”

As soon as something happens with a Motorhome everything goes overboard, taken totally out of proportion and goes viral.

Just to put things in perspective do you know how many people hate motorbikes too? Absolutely loads. So now your son will have a negative view on motorhomes ingrained in him.

UK speed limits are exactly that, a limit, not a target !!
I drive whatever speed I choose up to the signed limit.

Taking into consideration other road users who may be behind me, just common courtesy to allow them to pass if I'm driving slower.

There is an exception, motorways have a minimum speed due to safety.

I'm confused.....by putting 'an unmarked saloon' I started reading it thinking you were referring to it being a Police car....presumably not? Did the passenger take a random photo of the scenery or a photo of you/your van ?

Up there…! Rather racist ….

Actually MH’s are not really accepted anywhere in the UK
Broadly I agree with you! But can I put in a word for Scottish Borders…..Hawick has a large car park by the river about 200m from the high street. Free. Usually several Moho. Jedburgh, a royal burgh on the A68 has two large car parks both free access for Motorhomes and both 2 mins walk to a town centre full of history. The Italians park a convoy there from time to time 10 plus parked up. Kelso I think is the same. I hope it’s the Council taking an enlightened view that we spend money on fuel, food and…etc.

I thought it was an unmarked police car. We weren't on the single track road. So I slowed when it was free ahead and he just backed off. Finally got yo a lay-by pulled in and he put his arm out and took a picture

A long stretch of that route from Bettyhill to Tongue is single track with passing places. It would be interesting to know at what point and the road layout where this incident happened.

No it was before the single track it was like he was playing me 25 miles as stated was a gross exaggeration. Just seemed like it

As a scottish motorhome owner i wont go notth of Perth as so many of my fellow countryman are rude and ignorant towards motorhome owners. This is a classic example. I would have given them the finger when the camera appeared.

Report to police for holding/using a device whilst driving.
I also follow them home/when they stop, once they have passed.

Not my experience.
Maybe you should try heading east?

Edit: and definitely more welcoming than most places south of the border
