Quick update regarding the Amiko receivers - I'm being told that the BISS codes in these receivers are programmed for Intelsat 907 alone so it's most likely that a software patch is going to be required for the receiver to be able to decrypt the channels on Telstar 12. I'm not sure if the same goes for Icecrypt (or any other receivers) but I'll offer more advice on things hopefully before the end of the week.
Hi Anthony, keep checking my system for updates but nothing yet. Any idea when Germany shall issue the update for Telstar12…thanks for all your help

Hi All,

After some experimentation and valuable assistance from Field Specialist Vansflyer we seem to have a working solution. If you have a Seeker or Target system, please email support@maxview.co.uk and they will send you the new update file. The Connect App has been updated with a new Telstar pack.

However, looking at the footprint maps, and reading some expat forums, it looks like reception isn't going to be as far south as Intelsat 901. I think in time as more people try and use Telstar 12V, we will get a feel for what works where. Obviously this thread is a good location to report on how they are getting on. One other important thing to note with our updates, is that we are locking on to a transponder on the Europe-Middle East beam which has a big footprint, not the North Sea beam which is heavily UK focussed that has the UK channels on. Therefore, just because you can get your system locked on, doesn't necessarily mean that you will get reception of the UK channels. Ideally, check everything in the UK before heading south if you are able to.

Regards,
Lee

I've emailed for an update on this and will post any new information as soon as I get it.

Also, with regards to the Icecrypt/Amiko receivers I should have some news on that by Tuesday/Wednesday next week. Again, I'll post info as soon as I can.

Good morning Lee I’ve updated my Connect system and it now finds Telstar 12v and locks on , however when carrying out a blind scan with my Comag satellite receiver which has the BISS codes installed for Intelsat it displays approximately the same channel listings as Intelsat and stores them .
But I cannot view the channels - any ideas

Neil S it's to do with how the receiver see's the channels. Somehow they've tricked receivers to think the services are unencrypted so it doesn't apply the codes to access the channels. It'll be Comag you'll need to speak to about that.

Afternoon all,

Small update on the satback channels. I've had some guys from Amiko using my dish setup to test the programs on Telstar 12 and, while they are able to download the channels with full signal strength and quality, there seems to be an issue with the Video pids. The audio for the channels will work however currently they cannot get a picture to be received so they've gone away to scratch heads and will come back to me when they have further info.
Also, they are under the impression that the signal will not stretch much more than halfway down France on an 85cm dish. I can't verify this at the moment however if and when the picture issues are sorted if there are any willing Guinea pigs out there I would grateful for feedback.

We have the Amiko box and Oyster V and are based in Calpe.
Once the oyster update is released and we can lock on then I will provide feedback.
Have a trip planned to northern Spain and Southern France in a few weeks so hopefully we will have some positive news.

We got an update today but it appears the update for locking to Telstar 12 was not included, we are still not locking on with our Oyster V

Currently in Spain and trying to get Intelsat 907 with no luck after the last couple of days. Did a search on MHF and found this thread on Intelsat being no longer. I read with interest Anthonys input and have a couple of questions.
I have an oyster vision lll with an Avtex L188DRS. And an icecrypt Would I be able to use this system with an update to watch UK tv in Spain and France.
Thanks

Satback on I907 is no more.
It has moved to Telstar at 15w.
It is now on a "north sea" beam, limiting its reception in Spain and south France.
Not helped by similar frequencies that are active on the "med beam", that "knocks out" the weaker "north sea"beam, the further south you go.
And the FEC of 9/10 does not help either.
And some receivers are struggling to "unlock" the channels on its new satellite, whereas they were fine on I907, due to small tech changes that have made.

So UKTV via sat options are align the Astra 2 28 east UKTV satellites and get what you can - in Spain you will not get the likes of BBC ITV C4 Fives UKTV and others on the "uk beam" on "small" dishes, as the signals are just not that strong enough. But you will get the channels on the european beam, ie new, shopping, god, and other non popular channels.

People are looking at the Kabelio system, from Switzerland. As swiss rebroadcasting laws are different to EU countries (apparently, you can rebraodcast anything that you can receive in Switzerland without permissions), they offer this service on Hotbird 13 (nice and easy reception acrosss all of Europe), that offers about 7 uk channels, amongst others. It needs a CAM (about 60e on amazon) to unlock the channels, for which the first 3 months are free, then you need to pay (150ish euros for a year). Using the Kabelio webpage, and a Swiss address (but I dont think they do anything at this address, just check it is a legit address).

SKY tv is still receivable in Spain on the Astra 2 (Pan European Beam) I get a multitude of channels , Movies , Sport , SKY news , History and many more on my 85cm dish even down beyond Almeria but no BBC , ITV or the other mainstream free channels
But you have to subscribe
