We found it nothing like that, just don’t go to the strip! Ok we came across across a few drunk scousers and maybe some loud Jocks in the cheap bars, but plenty of culture not far from the site🙂
So no gobshite Geordies or Monkey Hangers in amongst them then Steve?

Jock, (which is actually a name). ;)

Best thing about Benidorm is the road out
and the road in

actually that’s not strictly true, best thing about Benidorm is the great atmosphere, the great free entertainment, the old town and Zodiac tapas (def not Tapas alley), the weather, the beach, the sunset bars, the ability to get in and out of anywhere you like without being ripped off, the Mediterraneo especially at night.

And it’s lack of miserable buggers, just mainly folk just wanting to socialise, have a chat and generally enjoy themselves, but you still get the odd one if you’re unlucky. 😟

And that’s my view of Benidorm, been going 40 years on and off 👍

Lots now
We love benidorm. The walk from the campsite to the old town gets a few steps in. Old Town has some great food options and a new German beer bar has opened up opposite tapas alley entrance plus you can get fresh oysters and champagne from 2 lovely French ladies in tapas alley. Yes there's ick heads in the the new town which can be full of issed up hens and stags but you can just walk on by.
Don't dismiss it.

Couldn’t have put it better myself, and for us it’s wandering along the prom to get to the old town and Zodiac Tapas, seeing the people out and about, walking in the sunshine, meeting up with Funsters, afternoon tea in Stars with the girls, the odd strenuous walk up to The Cross, and cycling to Albir and Altea, paella and entertainment at Cisne Market… I could go on, but you get my drift.

Can’t wait for January to be on the road in to Beni.

Oh Steven you do make me laugh, let’s hope you were able to enjoy the full velocity of the culture on offer in those cheap bars without it being spoilt by some drunk scousers, what you really need is to party with some cultured Jocks and scousers, but where on earth are you going to find those? ;)

and the road in
I should have said... "for us" the road out ..

There is a misconception that people all enjoy the same things.. which is not true.

We are not interested in clubs, entertainment, night life, tapas bars, karaoke .. etc.
we enjoy doing our own thing, without that.

Not being judgemental, please enjoy, but we wont be converted no matter how many 'sing its praises' .. it's just not for us.

And yes, I know there is more to Benni than that .. but you get my drift ..

PS.
Perhaps we are two of the "miserable buggers" you don't miss.. 😂

Pop into Benni for 10 mins and come for a cuppa and i’ll tell you if you are or not 😉🤣

There is something for everyone in benidorm imo apart from the road out if you give it a chance, no worries if we don’t see you though 👍

BTW. have you ever been?

Old Town is the place pontiente beach.
Got to be honest I'd never been to that part before a 15 min walk along the coast from boom boom dorm.

Im not into all the "strip culture" and i swear the part had a chilled , relaxed, clean feel to it which was most unexpected.
The beach was immaculate, the prom had nice relaxed cafe -wine bars, no union Jack's, St Andrews flags or football jerseys to be seen.
Walkers,joggers,cyclists galore (and scooters)

But it defo isnt the benidorm I had experienced years ago and was absolutely spotless.

Am heading out on 2nd nov looking at properties.

Its not our kind of holiday destination, simply because we like to keep moving, however, cannot deny whenever we have been through it is full of happy, smiling people having a great time with friends and family, eating and drinking an amazing variety of offerings all at great prices, sure they wonder with equal amazement what we get out of wandering around a almost always dead French town seeking out a baguette and a bit of cheese, thinking about it, Benidorm next year!

We swore we would never go, but had a couple of weeks forced upon us by our kids. We loved every minute.

Okay, we're well and truly spoilt living in Sutton on Sea but in winter the beaches in Benidorm are incomparable. Levante and Poniente's large sandy stretches provide great walking. With hills and mountains nearby if you want something more strenuous. The cycling is really great too, and out of town and in, there are plenty of places to stop drink cheap coffee and people watch.

Busy during the day but Beni comes alive at night with tons of bars, clubs, and restaurants that cater to all tastes. Whether you're looking for a quiet drink or a meal, or a night of dancing to a Spanish guitar or a big band, Benidorm has it all. The traditional Tapas bars in the whitewashed buildings of the old town are truly a delight. IMO Beni really has something for everyone who loves life.

From this thread it looks as if the people who don't like it , have passed through or been there three hours, it's just impossible to judge any town on that, small town, big town you can't really say anything about it after such a short stay.
