If not consider Smarty. It is a subsidiary of Three but cheaper.

Where you are, no matter who you get broadband with, it will be over the BT network so you will have 2 different companies to blame when there are problems and they will pass it back and forward.

A lot depends on who supplies the best in your area, have you tried Uswitch yet.

Zen internet if they are at your exchange, really good UK based support should you ever need it.

Another vote for Plusnet maybe owned by BT but operate independantly.
What I like is if you phone with a problem them have sensible people on the other end of the line that know what they are talking about.

Been with them since 2002, now on full fibre 145mb.

I have just renewed with EE AKA BT after ringing them with a quote from Martin's money savings site for a company I had not heard of before. They actually almost matched it and I have saved almost 50% of the monthly fee across that and the mobile. They have also sent a new router and mesh wifi that is supposed to be much better than the existing units. Time will tell. The real advantage for me is less messing about with email addresses etc.

I can personally recommend idnet not the cheapest, but I have been a reseller for the last 14 years.

Just checked with zen - Here they say fibre 2 - 70 mb for £36 per month £2 cheaper than BT but £7 dearer than EE so no good here for same speed

Another vote for Zen. 10 years in and NO complaints.

Yet another vote for Zen - excellent service. When we went to fibre they kept Openreach on the case and gave me regular updates.

I’m with PlusNet but I'll be leaving them as soon as my contract ends. I’ve been shafted by them on price. Currently, BT are cheaper for me than PlusNet so I’m switching to BT.

No plans to bring it here at all! The rub is that we had months of road disruption through the village to take full fibre to Wattisham airfield, but it's being fed direct from Ipswich rather than the local exchange. So I know the fibre is under the road 200 yards away but inaccessible.

If it for Jasmin, when we stayed we had full 5g signal as the aerial is so close I would consider 3 business through a sim thingy they do £18 a month unlimited data we use idmobile who piggyback on 3 network they also are £18 unlimited data shell also is £18 but I'm not sure on that.

I have just sacked Virgin and gone with Three broadband on a unlimited data card, we are in a 5g area so good speed, just done 3 tests, 130, 185 and 176 Mb/s, £11 for the first 6 months and then 22 for the rest of the 24 month contract.

I have seen as much as 250Mb/s

We get 1mb/s, sometimes 0.5, it can take 10 minutes to open a browser, a lot of the time it’s off completely.
They are fitting fibre broadband in a lot of Teesdale, just not here

Be careful. Buried in Smarty t&c is not intended as replacement for home broadband so even if unlimited they could call you out.

Mobile broadband is OK but may have higher contention (shared bandwidth) issues than fixed line. Also I suspect higher ping / latency which could affect users such as computer gaming?

Jim being out in the sticks won't have Virgin Media. Indeed it will be good that he has BT FTTC nearby.

Problem us that whichever supplier of broadband they will all have "deals" at certain times, which then escalate for inflation part way through contract and at renewal ignore past discount expecting you to pay through nose. As consumer play the game and accept a swap every 18 months, get email and stuff not linked to any Internet provider.

Most providers are fine, until it goes wrong.

Into my 3rd year with Vodaphone and never had any issues. Just good speedy reliable internet. I even managed to beat their price down when it came to renewing the contract.

We currently use an O2 5g unlimited sim giving 50-60 mbs download. Previously had Vodafone 4g , but signal was inconsistent
Sim was an unlimited data from Scancom, £110 for 6 months.
If i was going to go for a broadband deal i would go with Plusnet, but dont want tying into a 12/24 month deal.
Had Virgin for 18 months previously, never again.

I know this isn't for everyone but when we left bt about 5 years ago we went with sky and now get everything through it, phone, broadband as well as TV, and it works fine. I don't know what it costs as my son pays for it, but performance wise I can't knock it.

Snap Chas. We also have everything through SKY including all sports and Netflix, telephone and unlimited ultra fast BB all for £129 per month. We still have a sky dish rather than one of their new smart screens.

Unless you have fibre passing your property it’s the same cable and speed…..

2 starlinks? Pause your roam kit when not away so it's just up front cost for the 2nd kit set up at home


I have this one at home then for the mh.and static van, the static van is only open 8 months so gets paused.

Could be cheaper alternatives? But with the pause ability of starlink, could balance out.

Then I can't remember what the service was like when at Jasmin, but maybe a WiFi code option to offer superfast starlink to visitors.

Plusnet, fibre to the cabinet, up to circa 67mbps (reliably over 60mbps), has proven to be reliable so just renewed 18 month contract at £25.99

This - very happy with them for many years.
Until full fibre was available.

I'm a little surprised with how many people bother with massively fast connections

Because downloads take seconds instead of minutes/hours
Because it was cheaper than Plusnet renewal.
No brainer really.

We dumped sky broadband band early last year and now use a TP link Deco X50 Huge router with a unlimited Smarty SIM £20.00 per month 30 day contract and can get in excess of 300 mbs download. Not had any issues but if there is I can easily change the SIM for another provider as most company's have a good signal in our area.
