Tropical fish tanks are very calming to sit and watch.
If you ever have stressed customers sit them down in front of it with a cup of whatever.
With any obnoxious ones the big tank should be just about the right size to drowned them in.

I have found a local fish tropical fish specialist who does it professionally. He is going to come in twice a week to supervise!
The 300L tank we are going to go 5 Clown Loaches and 3 big discus. The other tank is going to be mental! Also thought it would be cool when Motorhomer's come in with kids/ grand kids so they can look at the fish.
Had our first lesson with a new filter. Matey in the garden centre recommended the big filter we have. It was the Turbo Filter 7000 that will literally pump the Pacific Ocean. Unfortunately he didn't explain that we would to keep the old filter running so bacteria could build up. New filter installed, half a water change, then the next day we had the big fish genocide of August 23. 30 fish died, including a Leopard Plec that cost £50......

All a steep learning curve. Far easier growing a Tomato!

Use to keep Koi in my 17’000 gallon pond and the worst thing you can do with a new set up is over feed as it builds up the ammonia levels pretty quick, takes ages for the filters to mature and sort the ammonia levels out👍

Have you thought about a 'jungle' tank instead of fishes? Reptiles, amphibians etc? I'd find that much more interesting than fishes and possibly easier to look after ... Having had tropical and cold water fish I wouldn't go down that route again.

I was going to suggest you found someone to do it all for you. See u have already learned the hard way.

Just became too much of a pain in the a*** looking after our tropical tank which the kids wanted for all of a couple of months and I looked after for the next 10 years.

Our heater thermostat failed once and we woke up to parboiled specimen's.
Lovely on toast 🤣

I was in a specialist fish shop in Broarstairs a few years ago and he had a 4ft show tank with no more than a few inches of water but lots of weed and small fishes and tiny crabs, was something to look at all over the tank

We had a large tropical tank that I loved.
It was bouncing with life and colour.
Went on a 4 month tour of duty leaving wife and 2 kids in charge.

returned to a tank with 2 rather large mini sharks and a few snails and one plant .
The rest was like a desert they had eaten every thing. 🤭🙄

Hi Simon@selectmotorhomes I still have 3 fish tanks at the moment and have had a tropical fish shop and still do aquarium maintenance. You should work your way up to discus! What is the ph and gh and kh of your tap water?
The bacteria need to build up slowly the aquarium has a 28 day bacteria cycle but you need to start it first! It needs to be cleaned every month ( I would get a company in to do it £60-£80 per hour)you can only put in 6-10 fish at a time! Do not put a normal Pleco in they grow to 24 inches long and shit more than they can eat! Get dwarf Plecos like bristlenoses or similar. Do not get clown loaches for a new tank they have skin not scales and are prone to white spot they are also avid piscivores and love to eat tetras or any fish that fits in their gobs they also grow to 10 inches!!!! Angel fish the same! Barbs are not a good choice as the common ones are fin nippers!
Use real plants to create a biome with slate and rocks to landscape it! Put the lights on a timer, start with 12 hours on 12 off the adjust as the plants grow.
PS no fish eats shit that’s why it needs cleaned but dwarf plecos eat algae and excess food.
I can’t squash 55 years of experience into one e-mail but I’m available for FREE advice.
Alex aka fishfingers 👍😁😎

Getting Better
I kept tropical fish and had a 5ft tank when we moved down to Cornwall but didn’t have time to set it up so to keep the kids amused I filled it completely with sawdust and put the kids two gerbils in it.
It was really fascinating watching them tunnelling every day, they had bedrooms and even a toilet area that made it easy to just change the sawdust in the part, it really was an interesting watch….. a bit like them ants nest things you could get in a double glazed unit..

Great retail ambience Simon, that looks excellent. I can see both adults and kids instantly feeling at home and comfortable in such a nice enviroment. No need to ask 'Can I help you', no customer bored while waiting to connect.... Great addition.(y)

You've forgotten to order the 'Please do not tap on the glass' signs! Now they are gonna be really, really expensive!

Back in the 60's, I shared a London house with 6 other guys, parties every weekend so, sadly, the aquarium fish, which we had inherited from the previous tenant, quickly died but we kept the pump etc running and put up a label saying BEWARE Invisible Japanese Fighting Fish

Lot less maintenance and a surprising number of guests who tried to help us spot them. 😂

The best one I saw was at a Hotel near Leogang, Austria.
It was like a large trough with a mountain stream running through it and where one could pick one's trout for dinner. 🙂

We seen a tank similar to that one in France a week or so ago 🤔

It had some rather large lobsters in it 🤭
Probably cheaper to keep than your proposed occupants 🙄😂
