We shot down to Split in the rain to a campsite just to the south on the coast.
When we arrived a german on a tractor turned up and managed to block the whole site as he just dumped it where nobody could get by.
How he drove it here with a little trailer was beyond us but he wasn't happy and neither was his other half.
While we where here we did ask someone who worked there whether the weather was usually like this for May. It was not, she said it had been terrible for tourists and the site wad been empty.
We sought shelter in the site bar which was very nice.
As was the Czech beer, dark Budvar. This got us talking about Prague. Will and Sue had been but Paul and Ang had not. Angela and I had been to Prague at least 5 times. Either on our own or with friends and loved it.
The next day we caught the bus from just outside the site into Split. It wasn't raining but there was a threat of it.
The main tourist place is the Palace and it is very impressive.
At the rear, next to the golden gate, is a large statue of Gregory of Nin where you have to rub his toe for luck.
I have noticed wherever we have been and there is a bronze statue there is always a part that has been rubbed. There is always a queue of people ready to rub it as well.
Due to the promise of rain I had left my camera behind again but the rain did not appear and we even got a little bit of blue sky.
As we wandered around the clouds started to gather. I tried to get someone to go into the frog museum I had seen on Travel man but got no takers.
We went for the bus before the rain came, as it had promised to do.
That night we went back to the bar and had a meal.
I think I was expecting a lot from Split and it didn't really deliver. If we had come straight here or flown in we would all have been impressed but I thought we had already been spoilt in the previous places.
Everyone was now looking forward to Dubrovic and what promised to be the highlight of Croatia.
